Sony Computer Entertainment held a press conference in South Korea earlier to reveal upcoming titles for the Playstation 2. During that event, Ken Kutargi showed off some major "online" titles that will hit South Korea sometime this year or in 2004. One of the titles that got revealed was Syphon Filter Online. Rumours about a new SF game are not new but no further details about its online capabilities were revealed. Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. announced today the release of Dark Cloud2, an imaginative, invigorating and vibrant 3D action-adventure, role-playing game (RPG) developed exclusively for the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system. The follow-up to the successful 2001 release, Dark Cloud 2 features a new character-driven story with two playable characters, an enhanced graphical look utilizing cell-shading technology, the return of the GEORAMA -- the unique ability enabling players to create, build and customize a fully interactive, 3D world, and the introduction of the Invention System which allows players to create an array of items for later use in battle and exploration.

At the heart of Gladius is a unique mix of dynamic game play that requires players to develop and manage a school of gladiators who, over time, gain experience, learn new skills, improve their abilities and finally test their might in epic battles. Players fight with deadly weapons and powerful magic, learn vital combat tactics, and enhance and customize characters.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell sets new standards on the PlayStation2, immersing gamers in a deadly world of shadowy conspiracies and heart-pounding intrigue. Chaos Legion has been billed in Japan as an ‘intense gothic opera’ which (minus the singing) details the story of master swordsman Sieg Wahrheit and his oldest ally Victor Delacroix. We learn that while Wahrheit is missing for many years on a dangerous mission, Delacroix is tempted and consumed by the forces of Evil. It is Wahrheit’s mission to pursue and prevent Delacroix from bringing chaos to the world. Wahrheit must battle through many gloriously realised 3D environments (featuring stunning architectural exteriors and highly detailed cavernous interiors) against Delacroix and his fearful hoards.

THQ Inc. today unveiled Sphinx -an original interactive adventure game. Developed for the PS2 and Gamecube by game design veterans Eurocom, Sphinx takes the character-based, action-adventure genre to new heights with sophisticated gameplay mechanics, original character designs, amazing visuals and superior technology. Eurocom has created successful titles based on some of the strongest intellectual properties in the world of entertainment including Crash Bandicoot, James Bond, Hercules and Disney's Tarzan. Sphinx is an entirely original property inspired by the mythology of ancient Egypt and is Eurocom's most ambitious project to date. Sphinx is scheduled to ship in fall 2003.

Capcom informed us that they have shipped "Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter" to stores. The latest iteration of this popular role-playing series follows the adventures of an underground dweller named Ryu who has an “awakening” about his mysterious past and finds himself leading his underground civilization to the surface after a world shaking catastrophe turns his world upside down. His quest is to lead the way for the people of Shelter to escape to the surface, but doing the journey is fraught with peril and woe. Enemies are at every turn impeding his safe passage to the surface. Using a variety of attacks including combinations, magic and tactics, Ryo and friends will break into the sunlight after generations of darkness- or die trying.
