Max Payne tells the story of a cop who wages a one-man war on crime when his wife and child are killed by thugs, but it is unclear whether the movie will follow the game plot. In Oct., the Max Payne movie is scheduled to launch, starring Mark Wahlberg (known for The Departed, Planet of the Apes or The Perfect Storm) and directed by John Moore (Behind Enemy Lines, Flight of the Phoenix). In an
interview at Comic-Con, Wahlberg revealed he hasn't played the game which his latest movie is based on due to him having "an addictive personality," and responsibility to his family.
The team that brought Final Fantasy III to NDS comes together once again to breathe new life into a classic, Final Fantasy IV for DS will feature full 3D graphics, fully voiced dramatic cut scenes, and added content.

Set between the largely unexplored era between Ep III and Ep IV, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed casts players as Darth Vader's "Secret Apprentice" and promises to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy. LucasArts' Matt Shell confirmed on G4 that a demo will be released on XBL/PSN somewhere in August featuring a special version of the Tie Fighter Construction Facility level, special powers and an ending not included in the retail game.

Gears of War 2 picks up six months after the events of the original, thrusting players back into humankind’s epic battle for survival against a nightmarish force of underground creatures known as the Locust Horde. At Comic-Con Epic's Cliff Bleszinski
revealed that Gears 2 will have "linked achievements," meaning the original will unlock new content in the sequel. For example, killing Raam in GoW will unlock him as a playable character in the sequel. Previously games used save games to unlock items or weapons in a sequel, but this might be a first to automatically have content be available through achievements.

Battle Fantasia is a 2.5D arcade fighting game, using 2D background with 3D models, developed by Arc System Works of Guilty Gear fame, and designed by artist Emiko Iwasaki. While Asia received both platforms, only the PS3 edition is scheduled in Europe, while Aksys will only release the X360 version in North America.

Cryptic Studios is currently working on Champions Online, based on the pen-and-paper Champions RPG, and has been recruiting
several times the past few years, and
last week merged the City of Heroes/Villains servers.
Last month Cryptic Studios put a teaser counter on its website indicating that a new game announcement is scheduled for 27th July, the last day of San Diego Comic-Con. Somebody in its Human Resources department jumped the gun as an ad in the latest Game Developer magazine reveals Cryptic is recruiting for Champions Online ... and Star Trek Online.

Crystal Dynamics has made Tomb Raider Underworld more realistic with fluid movements due to motion capturing. Set a few years after the last game, it also features persistent destruction and lush locales across the globe. Lara gets muddy in the game, but with the weather system, rain will wash it away.
