Derry-based Dark Water Studios currently consists of 10 programmers, artists and support staff, and looking to expand to 25 by the end of 2007. Currently working on a PC multiplayer title funded by the Department of Enterprise, the team is also in the early stages of prototyping an original title for PC and the next-gen console platforms.

Last year Take Two announced closure of its Vienna studio, responsible for creating titles such as Max Payne 1/2 for consoles, GTA 3, Vice city etc. Since then it has been real quiet but now a new studio has emerged from the ashes as Hannes Seifert, Niki Laber, and Jürgen Goeldner team up once again with Games That Matter. No current projects are revealed, except for "a visionary game production business model."

Yesterday Sony sent out a media blast to the press touting that it had just won an Emmy for its SIXAXIS wireless controller in the Peripheral Development and Technogical Impact of Video Game Controllers category. Apparently Sony deceived the press en masse as it not only did NOT win an Emmy for the PS3 controller, but rather for its old Dual Shock analog controller, it is also
sharing the Emmy with Nintendo for its D-Pad.

Reminiscent of the Gears of War debacle, Germany's ESRB equivalent USK (Unterhaltungssoftware Selbskontrolle) has refused to give Microsoft's GTA-like
Crackdown game an age rating (same goes for Eidos' Reservoir Dogs). This results in Real Time Worlds' open ended action to not be publicly sold or advertised, not sold to minors and can only happen in person, no online ordering. Germany's USK has strict rules on violence in games, especially in light of the recent fatal high school shooting.
