Earlier today Warner Brothers Pics. announced that it has signed the Hughes brothers to direct a postapocalyptic Western, The Book of Eli. While that in its own right does not have much meaning, the script The Book of Eli was written by Gary Whitta, who, according to Hollywood sources, is currently "writing Diablo for Legendary Pictures and Blizzard Entertainment." At least it's not Uwe Bolle ...

Novalogic is secretly working on a series of titles based on the CBS drama The Unit, which in turn is based on Eric Haney's novel Inside Delta Force. The Unit: Operation Acid Gambit will be the first title according to sources inside the development team, and will make use of an all-new engine, as well as new animation software. An official announcement will be made later this year, but the premise of the game is that your mission will be to fix the mistakes Delta Force has made, and change history.

At its UbiDays 07 event earlier today in Paris, Ubisoft announced that it has it is working on another movie licensed title, Beowulf. Not the TV series or the 1999 Christopher Lambert movie, but rather Paramount's upcoming remake with Angelina Jolie, John Malkovich and Anthony Hopkins. Developed by 4HEAD and 3D-IO, no platforms or release schedule was revealed, but the movie itself is due November 2007.

A little while ago JoWood announced it would be bringing its biggest franchises to console, and today brings the first announcement in that regard. Having recently split with Piranha Bytes (which means no more patches btw) over the bug ridden quality of the previous Gothic titles, Jowood announced today that it is in negotiations with a major development studio for Gothic 4, scheduled for PC and consoles.

According to the latest Nintendo Power issue, Kuju is currently working on bringing Geometry Wars: Galaxies to the NDS and Wii, adding singleplayer and various multiplayer modes on top of the Retro Evolved content. The handheld edition will use the touchscreen and most likely be in sold stores, the Wii version makes use of the Wiimote, and probably be downloadable like its Xbox Live Arcade counterpart.
