industry rumors of Viacom planning to buy Take-Two for $1.5 billion, Electronic Arts has opened up its coffers and made a $2 billion cash offer for the company, which is best known for its
Grand Theft Auto series. The Take-Two board turned down the deal as "unsolicited proposal as inadequate," so EA made the announcement in an attempt to sway Take-Two's shareholders.

EA today signed agreements for in-game advertisement with not one, but two agencies. The deal with Massive Incorporated covers four titles, X360 and PC, starting with Need for Speed Carbon, while the IGA Worldwide contract covers at least 3 titles, starting with Battlefield 2142.

Already rumored several months ago, EA today announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Virginia-based Mythic Entertainment, known for Dark Age of Camelot and currently working on Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. Upon completion of the acquisition, Mythic Entertainment will become EA Mythic, a wholly-owned studio dedicated to developing MMORPGs.

EA announced today that it is lowering prices on its upcoming current generation PS2 and Xbox prices. This week Fight Night Round 3 is getting released, and should be in most retail stores by now, and gamers will only have to pay $39.99 for it, instead of the usual $49.99. But EA is not stopping with this one title, as also The Godfather and BLACK will be sold at that same price, a 20% reduction.

Electronic Arts today announced revised estimates for the Company's fiscal year ending March 31, 2005. The changes are primarily the result of lower than expected sales in both North America and in Europe. Electronic Arts today announced an investment in international game developer and publisher UbiSoft Entertainment. The investment represents approximately 19.9 percent interest in the company, shares purchased as a block from Dutch investment company Talpa Beheer B.V. to be completed upon obtaining antitrust clearance from the U.S. government. Financial terms were not disclosed. It is not apparent if this is part of a hostile takeover, but if approved, this would instantly make EA the biggest shareholder of Ubisoft.
