German publisher Ascaron will released their latest RPG/Fantasy Adventure game Sacred in Spring 2003, but no word about English release date. Sacred wil allow you to choose one of 6 (3 male/3 female) totally different characters, ranging from Magicians, Gladiators, Dark Elves and more. Atari is bringing "Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee," a one-to-four player monster-on-monster fighting game, to the Xbox in Spring 2003. Based on the classic movie characters created by Toho Co., Ltd., the game recreates the look and feel of the titanic film legends and challenges players to punch, kick, stomp, throw and blast each other in massive, city-wide arenas. Simon & Schuster Interactive announced today Crowd Control Productions' (CCP) highly anticipated Massive Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG) "Eve Online: The Second Genesis" has marked a milestone as testing begins for the fifth stage of beta. Also announced today EVE ONLINE will use Microsoft DirectX 9.0 and gamers will be able to play across multiple monitors (Rated "T" by the ESRB). Infogrames Entertainment reports that, according to NPD data, its share of the US console market doubled in December 2002 versus the corresponding prior period (2.8% in 2001 versus 5.8% in 2002, an increase of 122%). In the December 2002, the Group ranked number 2 in the US consoles market with its Dragon Ball Z Budokai on Playstation 2, as measured in terms of both value and volume for games run on all types of consoles.

Reuters reports that Nintendo Co Ltd creator of the "Pokemon" video game series, said on Thursday its shipments of GameCube home consoles in 2002/03 were likely to fall more than 10 percent short of its target of 10 million units.. Satoru Iwata, Nintendo's president, told Reuters in an interview that the gamemaker expected shipments of GameCube software in the 2002/03 business year to March to come in below its 55 million unit target, but he declined to give a figure.. He also said the company was developing a next-generation home videogame console. Nintendo is looking at the possibility of launching it in 2005 or 2006, he said.. Rival console makers are expected to release next-generation systems around that time.

Eidos Interactive reports that 'Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness' will ship in April at the earliest. Eidos still belive that the game will be a hit... "(We) believe that the game will benefit substantially from the marketing of the new Lara Croft movie, Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, scheduled to be released this summer," Chief Executive Mike McGarvey said.

Originally developed for the PS2 by THQ's Volition studio, these new versions of Red Faction II will feature a number of enhancements and improvements. The Gamecube version, being developed by THQ's Cranky Pants Games studio, will feature custom animations, improved texture resolution and color as well as enhanced lighting specific to the Gamecube hardware. The Xbox and PC versions, being developed by THQ's Outrage Games studio, will include increased texture resolution, and exclusive multiplayer maps and character models. The game begins when Kevin Myers receives a call from magazine his sister works for. He is told that she didn't contact them more than 10 days and they are afraid she missed in Colombia during her journalist investigation. So, Kevin departures to this country in order to rescue her. Having arrived he finds himself in the world of violence where 70 out of 100 hundreds people are killed each year. There are many forces fight for the power in Colombia. They are officials, guerrilla, narco mafia, Indians, bandits, CIA. The player has to maneuver between them to reach the main goal to find lost sister. The scenery that looks banal in the beginning step-by-step gets mixed up and finally becomes semi-mystic.
