Electronic Arts today announced the acquisition of Studio 33, a globally recognized developer of games in the racing genre. The team of roughly 30 Liverpool-based employees will join the existing team at EA Northwest in nearby Warrington. Both teams - a total of 75 employees - are scheduled to move to a new facility in Warrington shortly.

Electronic Arts is the first company to develop and publish THX Certified Games using these standards. THQ Inc today announced the release of BIONICLE for Game Boy Advance. BIONICLE, the second title under THQ's multi-title exclusive publishing agreement with LEGO Interactive, is now available at retail outlets nationwide.

THQ Inc. today announced that it has entered into an exclusive multi-title Nintendo Game Boy Advance co-publishing agreement with SEGA Europe Ltd. THQ will co-publish three titles based on the popular Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, including Sonic Pinball Party, Sonic Battle, and Sonic Advance 3, as well as Shining Soul II and Shining Force, across Europe, Australia and other international territories beginning with Sonic Pinball Party in winter 2003.

This fast-paced hack n' slash game marks the introduction of the gothic fantasy world of Hunter: The Reckoning based on White Wolf's pen and paper RPG, to the platform. With one of five playable Hunters, gamers will battle hordes of monsters with an arsenal of deadly weapons. CDV has released some new screens from their upcoming RTS game Cossacks II. All other screenshots to date don't show the brilliant new interface and Cossacks buffs will immediately recognize the changes. Everything has been cleaned up, and there are drastically fewer icons than before. The guys at GSC Game World were able to minimize the icons and simplify the controls. Another new feature is an on-screen video that depicts the selected unit via real-life footage. If you have ever wondered how those units look in reality, Cossacks II will show you! 20 years on, the most famous re-publisher of them all is set to return to the industry. Mastertronic will be re-launched by games software industry veterans Paul Patterson and Andy Payne and the company's mission will be true to the original, all be it updated to handle the demands of the modern software publishing industry.
Besides bringing many a legendary 8 bit game to a true mass market (One Man and his Droid, Hunter Patrol, Spellbound, Phantoms of the Asteroid and Master of Magic to name a few), Mastertronic also brought the Sega Master System into Europe in the late 80's. The name Mastertronic all but disappeared from the industry in 1991 when it was merged with Richard Branson's Virgin Games initially becoming Virgin Mastertronic before being renamed Virgin Interactive Entertainment.

Hegemonia: The Solon Heritage does not only feature new levels, ship types, and cyborg mercenaries to hire - 50 new inventions, rebalanced unit charts and an emphasis on multiplayer should enhance the Haegemonia experience.
