As being mentioned in various places America's Army developers are trying to fix up some of the mess they made with the initial Recon release. The America's Army: Operations 'Recon' website mentions that a new update for this tactical first-person shooter by the U.S. Army is expected to be ready for release tomorrow. You will be able to choose from either a 3MB patch or an updated full Recon download. The patch will address "client and server-side flooding issues," the "Sniper Rifle bug from random weapon selection" and more, as well as adding "Community Game Server Support" and an "Admin Spectator Mode." Of course we WILL keep you posted when it arrives...

The 3DO Company today announced the development of the Army Men: Air Combat “The Elite Missions” game for the Nintendo GameCube system. The Army Men: Air Combat “The Elite Missions” game follows the exploits of the heroic Captain Blade and his Alpha Wolf Squadron as they once again take to the skies in support of the Green Army in their ongoing struggle with the Tan forces. The game is planned to ship in time for Christmas 2002.

There is a movie trailer for America's Army available for download from Gigex, showing off this first-person action and role-playing game by the U.S. Army. The 3DO Company today announced the development of the first Sarge’s Heroes title for the Nintendo GameCube, Army Men: Sarge’s War. The Sarge’s Heroes games were some of the most successful third-party titles for the Nintendo 64, having sold over a million units between the two games. The Army Men: Sarge’s War game is planned to ship in Spring 2003.

The United States Army announced their employment of the HomeLAN group to exclusively provide hundreds of official servers, 24/7 admin support, beta testing, development, and a host of other features and services for the America's Army game. The "America’s Army” game blends two vivid simulations: “Soldiers,” a role-playing portion in which players navigate life’s challenges to achieve goals, and a first-person action game, called “Operations.”

Last week, at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, the Army unveiled "America's Army," a new game series that's meant to serve as a marketing and recruiting tool for the gaming generation. Recognizing that the target audience knows a quality title when it sees one (and ignores and ridicules poor quality efforts), the Army has assembled a team of proven developers and licensed one of the premier engines on the market to make its games. A few months ago we had some early screens from Digital Reality's upcominf project under the name of "some 3D Vietnam based war game". Well today there is confirmation that the game is steaming along very well and will be named "Platoon : The 1st Airborne Cavalry Division In Vietnam". We got some game features and screens ... yummie!

So i picked up 3DO's Army Men : RTS and plunged myself into the world of toy soldiers ... I used to have those little green toys by the dozens 20 years ago and loved playing with them. I actually never tried any of the previous Army Men games but since this one is a real time strategy game i had to give it a whirl ... Finished the campaign and the battles (aprox 25 missions in all). Check out the screens!

The 3DO Company today announced that the Army Men: RTS game for the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system and PC shipped this week to retail stores throughout North America. The Army Men: RTS game was developed by Pandemic Studios, makers of Dark Reign 2 and Battlezone II.
