Microsoft Shooting for $155 Million 'Halo 3' (X360) Debut

In Halo 3 Master Chief returns to finish the fight, bringing the epic conflict between the Covenant, the Flood, and the entire human race to a dramatic, pulse-pounding climax. With preorders in North America already exceeding the 1 million milestone, Microsoft has high hopes for the Halo 3 debut. Director of creative marketing Chris Di Cesare claims the goal is to reach $155 million in a single day, surpassing both Halo 2's $125 million, as well as Spider-Man 3's $151 million opening record.

'Splinter Cell Conviction' (ALL) Developer Slams PS3's A.I. Capabilities

Ubisoft producer and technical director Dany Lepage seems to be firm about the multiplatform future of Splinter Cell Conviction, saying that "It’s NEVER gonna come out on the PS3 or the Wii. It’s a logical decision," further implying that Nintendo’s console doesn’t have the graphical horsepower, and the PS3 can’t handle AI nearly as well as the 360. Let's wait a few days and see if Ubisoft issues a clarification or downright retraction of that statement.

DirectX 10 Hardware Not Compatible With DX10.1 Update

People who have been upgrading their gaming system with the latest hardware might be in for a surprise as The Inquirer reports (albeit not a very reliable source) that an upcoming DirectX 10.1 update by Microsoft will not be compatible with the latest GeForce 8800 or Radeon 2900 gfx cards. While the update itself is rather insignificant, 32-bit instead of 16-bit floating point filtering, and 4xAA will become a standard, it also requires Vista SP1, and developer implementation.

With a Prince of Persia movie in the works, an Assassin's Creed short story bring made, it is no surprise that Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed at the Edinburgh Interactive Festival that it plans to expand into film production and book publishing. "We will start making movies not because we want to, but because this is what we have to do," Guillemot said "If we don't, we will not be able to take advantage of the next generation."
