The end of the world is here! Emerging from the devastation of a global meteor strike, aliens swarm the landscape and ravage the planet. Everyday people must stand together and fight back with a wide variety of weapons, supplies, and defenses as they battle through the towns and wilderness of the Pacific Northwest.
Inspired by classic shooters like Left for Dead, Earthfall players employ team-based tactics to fortify holdouts and complete objectives under unrelenting attacks from alien hordes. Utilizing a wide variety of weapons and supplies like barricades, turrets, 3D printers, players must use team-based tactics and defenses while exploring the towns and wildernesses of the Pacific Northwest.
The ‘Invasion Update’ will thrill shooter fans with the new Horde mode, player progression system with unlockable player abilities, and new weapon sound effects provided by renowned Hollywood sound studio Formosa Group (Blade Runner 2049, Deadpool 2, John Wick 3).
"We wanted to show our fans how serious we are about the future of Earthfall, and that is why we sought out the best sound design team in the world to level up the audio of Earthfall," commented Collin Moore, Senior Community Manager, Holospark.
"The new weapon audio gives each weapon a new dynamic and punchy feeling that takes each weapon to a whole new level," said Russell Williams, CEO of Holospark.
The ‘Invasion Update’ will deliver two of the Earthfall community’s highly requested features. Horde Mode will include four new maps where players will fight back countless waves of new alien monstrosities. The player progression system will enable gamers to unlock 50 levels of new cosmetics and player abilities.
Lastly, award-winning sound studio Formosa Group has levelled up the weapons sounds in Earthfall: from the thunderous shots of the Desert Eagle, the sharp click-clack of AK47 machinery, the gut-punching thud of the Berg 930 Shotgun, the brass shell eject on the SW22a, and the sci-fi inspired Valkyrie gun that incinerates enemies. The changes to the weapon audio adds to the cinematic immersion as players fight back alien monsters in the Earthfall’s Invasion Update.
Formosa Interactive's Alan Rankin, who was previously nominated for an Academy Award for his sound effects work on Star Trek, jumped at the opportunity to help on Earthfall. Being a longtime gamer himself, the chance to help shape the sound of humanities last stand against an alien invasion sounded too fun to pass up! For the last couple months, Alan has been carefully crafting the new weapon audio in Earthfall.
The Invasion Update will be launching October 30 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC via Steam.
