CyPR Media invites you to rediscover the soul of PC gaming, the independent developer. At the 17th annual Game Developers Conference in San Jose next week, CyPR Media will showcase four titles that are excellent examples of what independent developers can create.

The SWAT: Global Strike Team was founded in 2018 as an international offshoot of the U.S. SWAT organization. Primarily established to supplement the income of the U.S. SWAT establishment, the Global Strike Team contract their personnel and expertise to companies and countries around the world to help “resolve” situations for those who have the funds but not the means to do so. The GST is made up of specially selected SWAT officers and ex-military personnel who have shown the ability to adapt to and overcome any situation they encounter. Like the U.S. SWAT organization, SWAT: GST is a life-saving institution whose mission is to uphold the laws of its operating country, so all efforts must be made to use only necessary force.

Mace Griffin Bounty Hunter takes place hundreds of years in the future, where both human and alien settlers are rapidly colonizing the galaxy. The player will assume the role of ex-Special Ops officer, Mace Griffin. Against a backdrop of corporate, political and religious intrigue, Mace Griffin is framed for being involved in his comrades’ deaths. After spending 10 years in prison, he becomes a Bounty Hunter, a vocation that gives him access to classified information and a means to aggressively pursue his search for the people who framed him.

This world-builder title is inspired by Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment’s Jurassic Park franchise—the studio’s most successful film franchise. Jurassic Park allows you to fulfill Dr. John Hammond’s dream by successfully designing and managing your very own Jurassic Park. Create the most amazing dinosaur theme park the world has ever seen, OR battle your way through 12 intense missions that will truly test your skills against the awesome powers of nature and its most dominant creatures. Atari announced plans to release Superman: Shadow of Apokolips for the Nintendo GameCube and announced the upcoming Superman: Countdown to Apokolips for the Game Boy Advance ­ both titles are scheduled for release in March 2003. Developed by Infogrames’ Sheffield House and based on the Warner Bros. and DC Comics hit animated series, The New Superman Adventures. Superman: Shadow of Apokolips for Nintendo GameCube is a port of the successful version currently available on PS2, and also features voice acting by the original cast, a sweeping orchestral score and more than 30 minutes of stunning cinematics.

Microsoft Game Studios announced today its first baseball title for the Xbox, "Inside Pitch 2003." This Xbox Live enabled title will begin turning double plays, throwing brush back pitches and clearing the fences for the 2003 Major League Baseball season. Nomar Garciaparra will appear on the cover and serve as spokesperson for "Inside Pitch 2003." Joining the All-Star shortstop on the "Inside Pitch 2003" roster is the top broadcast team of Joe Buck and Tim McCarver. Read more for details and screens.

Codemasters has just released a new beta demo of Pro Race Driver (a.k.a Toca Race Driver) offering a renewed opportunity to try out this upcoming touring car racing simulation by Codemasters. The demo (courtesy of PC Format magazine and Blackhole Motorsports) lets you test run in a Proton Satria GTi on the Monza track, and a two lap race in a Lexus LS200 around the short (Indy) circuit at Brands Hatch (thanks 3DGamers).

In 'Wallace & Gromit' players will rescue young animals from the clutches of mischievous monkeys and thwart Feathers McGraw's twisted and diabolical plan for total zoo domination. Set in an immersive 3D world, the player is cast as Gromit and is challenged to solve puzzles and locate keys in order to rescue the young animals. Machine parts, located throughout the game's many testing levels, must also be gathered so that the ever-inventive Wallace can create a marvellous contraption with which to deal the final knockout blow to the dastardly Feathers and his vile plans. Bam Entertainment's "Ice Nine" is one of their upcoming PS2 (also coming for the GBA) titles, inspired by the upcoming Al Pacino and Colin Farrell movie "The Recruit".
