Sony Online announced today that it has added a /donate command to EverQuest II, where player can just type in /donate to be taken to the American Red Cross' Hurricane 2005 relief page. Gamers in the affected areas will get their billing suspended and items & structures preserved. Federal Appeals Court Rules In The Blizzard v. BnetD Case

Back in June we reported that the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals would hear oral arguments in the Blizzard v. BnetD case, and now the verdict is in. In a 3-0 decision, the court upheld a trial judge's ruling from October, concluding the programmers' circumvention in this case constitutes infringement. The defendants in the case reverse-engineered the Blizzard protocol using tools to listen to the software's communications with a game server, and circumvent Blizzard's, amongst other things, anti-piracy server Battle.net.
