Just noticed over at Blues that the official Battlefield 1942 site announces plans for a beta test of Battlefield 1942, EA's hybrid 3D action game that's nearing completion at Digital Illusions. The sparse page specifies a few system requirements, provides an email address for interested players to submit their apparently rather freeform application, and 50 beta testers will be selected from those who enter.

3D Realms has just released the first update patch for their recently released 'Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project' (developed by Sunstorm Interactive). Activision, Inc. today announced that Raven Software’s first-person action game Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix is the #1 best-selling PC game in the U.S., U.K. and Australia. The title topped U.S. PC sell through charts in both revenue and units for the week of May 26 – June 1, 2002 according to NPD Intelect and was the #1 game in the U.K. for the week of June 8, 2002 as reported by Elspa/Chart-Track. In Australia, Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix has continued its three-week reign as the #1 PC title, according to Inform.
