NCSoft Sells More, Makes Less, Lays Off Employees

NCsoft issued its Q2 2008 financial results revealing that while sales were up 7%, operating profit, pre-tax profit, and net income dropped 25%, 31%, 42%, respectively. As a result NCSoft issued a statement that it has laid off 21 positions at its Austin studios after certain not yet announced projects were halted, while also scaling back the Dungeon Runners team as it decided not to port the client to other platforms.

Activision Doesn't Want 'Scarface' License, Kicks it Back to Universal

Scarface is a 3rd person action game set in a complex world filled with excess and greed, where you take on the role of ruthless gangster Tony Montana. Even though the original sold more than two million copies Activision Blizzard didn't like that license either, so the rights reverted back to Universal, who will most likely shop it around or with its new found "Wanted" developing initiative might keep it in-house.

While the Fire Emblem DS has been revealed a little while ago, there have yet to be any official details released. Currently available only in Japan, we're quite confident that Nintendo's fantasy turn-based strategy game will make its way to the west.
