Ubisoft announced today the return of the legendary Might and Magic brand. Credited with the establishment of the heroic fantasy genre upon its first release in 1985 on PC, the brand encompasses several product lines including the mythical Heroes of Might & Magic. Ubisoft will bring fresh life to the franchise, while respecting its heritage, just as it successfully did with cult brands such as Prince of Persia and Myst.

Reuters is reporting that they have received word from a company source that Sony could miss its end-March target for the European launch of its PSP. This would effectively be the second time it has delayed the European launch, since it originally planned to release the handheld in time for Christmas last year.

Eurogamer is reporting that Ubisoft is working on an all new MMORPG based on the 'Heroes of Might & Magic' franchise. The new online RPG is being developed by Ubisoft in collaboration with TQ Digital Entertainment, and is scheduled for a 2005 release. Unfortunately it seems the MMORPG is only planned for the Chinese market, although Ubisoft says they might look into a worldwide release somewhere down the line.

With the demise of 3DO a while ago the future of the Geroes Of Might & Magic was uncertain until Ubisoft outbid other publishers a few months later. With the additional closing of long time developer New World Computing, it has been very quiet on the who and when we can expect the next installment (which would mean the fith episode). Heroes fan site Heroic Corner claims to have received confirmation from 2 independent sources that Silent Storm & Etherlords developer Nival Interactive might be the chosen one. Since most of Nival Interactive's titles have been strategy based it might very well be possible that they have been tagged by Ubisoft to work on 'Heroes of Might & Magic 5' (thanks Gamers.nl).

Ubi Soft Entertainment UBIP.PA has been designated the lead bidder for bankrupt game publisher 3DO Co.'s "Might and Magic" assets, according to papers posted on Friday. The agreement with Ubi Soft, one of seven companies to qualify by Wednesday's deadline as bidders for 3DO's properties, was posted on 3DO's bankruptcy Web site and listed a purchase price of $1.3 million for the assets (thanks HLF). The 3DO Company today announced Heroes of Might and Magic IV for the Macintosh. The game will be available this fall. The newest member of the critically acclaimed Might and Magic series, Heroes IV offers the best in fantasy gaming with breathtaking graphics and an all-new magical skill system.

The 3DO Company today announced that its highly anticipated game expansion, "Heroes of Might and Magic IV: The Gathering Storm" for the PC, is now in stores. Featuring massive never-before-seen campaigns and maps, the expansion pack includes four original creatures to fight and a series of new artifacts to collect. Players must assemble a strong team to defeat the diabolical Mad Wizard, Hexis.
