We managed to see
The Mechanic yesterday, a remake of
the 1972 Charles Bronson movie, and as expected, it was pretty solid. It was action-packed with quite a few gruesome killings and a somewhat flimsy story, but let's be honest, you are not seeing a Jason Statham movie to discover the meaning of life.
While we were waiting for the movie to start, we saw a few upcoming movie clips, and now we are looking forward to
The Eagle,
Limitless (maybe when it comes on DVD), and of course
Battle: Los Angeles. That trailer looks so epic that it gives me goosebumps each time I see it. For crying out loud, give us a new
Transformers 3 teaser, will ya? I'm tired of seeing that same footage over and over again, especially since it shows absolutely nothing!
Well, let's get this show on the road ...

Hmm think I might be coming down with something. I fell asleep while watching Chuck last night and went for a short nap but didn't wake up until morning. With my erratic sleeping patterns, I hardly sleep full nights, but when I do, it usually means I'm fighting off a cold or something. I guess the silver lining is that I usually heal while sleeping. (No, I'm not really bionic.)

The gaming headset we purchased the other day turns out to be a bust. It was working fine for the tournament on Wednesday (we took 2nd place), but this morning, it didn't want to work anymore. I've been testing all sorts of different settings, but it didn't resolve anything. Back to the store it goes, and maybe we'll pick up something else.
Anyhow, the weekend is upon us, and while there are no movies that we want to see — Bounty Hunter doesn't count — I'm sure we'll keep ourselves busy with the DVR, Netflix, and some running now that the weather is much better.

Don't you just hate it when you just can't seem to wake up from a nap and it turns into a five- to six-hour stretch? Anyhow, the weekend is here, so it's all good.
We plopped ourselves on the couch, put a few logs in the fire, and watched Stargate Universe, Supernatural and an episode of Flashforward before we succumbed to the sleep monster. Not a bad stretch of TV watching. If we can maintain this pace tomorrow, we might actually make a dent in the backlog.
Seems our
Assassin's Creed II review kicked up a little dust. Sorry, Charlie; we call it as we see it.

A little bit of excitement at the end of the day with Microsoft announcing a
250GB Elite Modern Warfare 2 bundle, and all nicely painted. Might have to get one of those suckers ....
Apart from that, the day was pretty uneventful on my end, mostly work. Adam called in with a bit of good news. Apparently we got a call back from
Nathan Fillion's publicist, and we are going to do an interview later this week. For the uninitiated, Fillion is an actor who's best known as Capt. Mal Reynolds in the "Firefly" TV series and "Serenity" movie. He's currently starring as crime novel writer Richard Castle in the ABC series, "Castle," but more importantly for us gamers, he's voicing Buck in
Halo 3: ODST. Since we're big Firefly fans (as evidenced by the title of this post), we were very excited by this news, so check back in a few days for the end result.

Activision CEO Bobby Kontick has been calling for Sony to drop the retail price on its PS3 console for quite a while now. He was hoping that a lower-priced model would be introduced at E3, which did not happen. Valve has been claiming it won't support the PS3 because it is too difficult to develop on, while various others have claimed it requires the biggest budget out of the 3 current-gen consoles. Kontick has now made the
bold statement that if Sony does not cut the price, the attach rate will drop further, which might eventually cause Activision to drop PS3/PSP support by 2010/11.
