From the GDC 08 trailer we saw the UE3 engine moved from a handful of Locust on screen to hundreds, and the elusive Brumak from the original will be present, but so will even larger creatures making the "Brumak look like a baby panda bear." The fight is being taken to the Locust so expect expansive, multi path, and prettier underground locales, where you will be assisted by 4 new characters (Tai Kaliso, leader of the COG forces Chairman Prescott, Dizzy, the driver of a new vehicle; and Dom's wife Maria Santiago, narrator of the story.) Singleplayer co-op will allow people to play at different difficulty settings when paths split. The cover system has been tweaked to offer better protection, new chainsaw duels have been added, new weapons, achievements, and a War Journal with background story.

Back in early 2007 New Line Cinema (now a unit of Warner Bros.) acquired the movie rights to Epic's action game Gears of War, to be adapted by Stuart Beattie and produced by Temple Hill Entertainment. During an interview with ComingSoon Twilight producer Wyck Godfrey revealed when we can expect to see the movie in theaters, "We've got our script on and a director we're about to attach. Microsoft announced that on Thursday, May 3, at 9 a.m. GMT, it will release four new action-packed Gears of War multiplayer maps in the thrilling Hidden Fronts Multiplayer Map Pack. For 800 Microsoft points, COG soldiers and the Locust Horde will clash once again for control of these four dynamic new areas, including Bullet Marsh, Garden, Process and Subway.

Technical issues have delayed the Gears of War Global Xbox Live Tournament Leaderboard re-set previously scheduled for 12:01 a.m. GMT on April 9, 2007. Tournament play has been scheduled to resume on or about 12:01 a.m. GMT on Friday, April 20, 2007, and will continue until 11:59 p.m. GMT on Sunday, May 13, 2007.
