While the swine flu, also known as H1N1, hasn't exactly turned out into the epidemic initially feared, it has been spreading and making victims all across North America. While the E3 organization issued a statement last month that the summit was not going to be affected, that was not taking into account Japanese developers who are being cautioned by their government about overseas travel. As such Capcom, KOEI and Square Enix have announced their Japanese staffers will not be present at the exhibition.

When Capcom revealed its
E3 2009 lineup earlier this month it included two new, yet to be announced titles, that would be revealed during its press conference. While there are still few details available, the
newest issue of Nintendo Power revealed one of the two titles as being Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. The crossover fighting game features a slew of characters from Capcom games pitting them against creations from Japanese animation studio Tatsunoku Production.

Video Games Live will return to Los Angeles, CA on Thursday, June 4th at 8:00pm, as it will be performing at the historic Greek Theatre as the closing ceremony of E3. A lot of new material has been incorporated into the 2009 show and partnered with the E3 convention, there will be a variety of very special guests from Japan and Europe in town for this performance.

Missing in E3 2008, Activision revealed earlier this week that it is once again an exhibitor at this year's weeklong gaming conference in Los Angeles. However, people looking forward to checking out StarCraft II or Diablo III will be disappointed as Blizzard confirmed it will not be attending the E3 2009, claiming, "our current focus is on the ongoing development of Diablo III, StarCraft II, and World of Warcraft." Seems like BlizzCon is going to be the main event for all things Blizzard this year ....

The first details from E3 2009 are starting to trickle in, as
G4TV revealed that next year's edition of the trade show will be held in June. According to the report, E3 will soften the attendance restrictions, allowing more people to head to the Los Angeles Convention Center between June 2-4, 2009. A different report from
Newsweek goes even further and claims the show will be part trade/media and open to the public from June 5-6, 2009. While it will not be a free-for-all, the ESA will reportedly allow a much larger audience to attend; E3 2007 had approx. 5,000 attendees, and E3 2009 will be capped at 40,000.
