While Sony refused to comment, the bloggers over at
Kotaku have conjured up info from unnamed sources that PSP v1.1 is in the works, to be unveiled in July at the also-revamped E3. The new and improved handheld console features a thinner exterior, 8GB of internal memory, redesigned d-pad and buttons, a faster loading UMD drive, and an LED backlit screen which increases battery life up to 4 times. Speculation is that it will go on sale in Aug/Sept for around $170.

It has been quiet surrounding E3 for a few months, but as its kick-off date (July 11-13) is creeping nearer, the ESA has revealed the list of exhibitors that will be putting on a show at the slimmed-down E3 Media & Business Summit 2007. A total of 33 companies will be present (compared to 400 last year), representing all the big players (EA, Sony, Nintendo, Ubisoft, Vivendi), and a few European/indie developers and publishers (1C, id).

Electronic Software Association (ESA) top executive, and most recently E3 lead organizer, Mary Dolaher, has resigned and taken up a new position at IDG World Expo, organizer of numerous tradeshows such as MaxWorld and various others around the world. Not skipping a beat, IDG today announced it will be organizing Game Pro Expo in Los Angeles' Staples Center, the former E3 location, October 18-20, 2007. The new show will will have trade, consumer, and game competition components, comparable to the Tokyo Game Show/Liepzig Convention formulas.
