Nintendo is announcing new pricing for the Nintendo DS of $129.99, effective Aug. 21, in advance of the arrival of a critically acclaimed title for the dual-screened, hand-held video game system. The $20 price drop comes just ahead of the Aug. 22 U.S. launch of Nintendogs, which has become a cultural phenomenon and a sales leader in Japan because of its innovative appeal.

Purchase one of several breeds available at the beginning of the game, then start spending time with your pup. Throw flying discs and balls to improve the pup's agility, bathe it when it gets dirty, and repeat voice commands to train the dog to do tricks. If you train it well enough, you'll excel in dog shows and agility contests, which will earn you money and unlock other items and puppy breeds. When you earn enough cash, you can buy even more puppies to live with yours.

Following the launch of Nintendo DS in Europe on March 11, 2005, the new handheld console is proving to be a success with European gamers, having snapped up over 500,000 units by Easter Saturday – that's 77% of the consoles that were in stores across Europe for launch. Video game giant Mario appears in Los Angeles to deliver a proposal to create a new Interactive Entertainment category on the world-famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. The new category honoring video game heroes would supplement the current Walk of Fame categories for Film, Television, Recording, Stage and Radio to allow the stars of interactive entertainment to receive stars on the Walk of Fame.

The latest issue of Nintendo Power seems to reveal quite a few of interesting facts. In a listing of upcoming Namco titles it seems that last years hit title Katamari Damaci might be making an appearance on the NDS, but also EA's Goldeneye Rogue Agent is scheduled. Further more there are also the first details about Age of Empires: The Age of Kings, to be published by Majesco. AoE II will of course utilize both screens, bottom will show the game map for playing and controlling the units, while the top view will be used for game info and characteristics. The game will feature 5 civilizations, 15 different buildings that can be constructed and upgrade, 50 unit types, and also wi-fi multiplayer for up to 4 people, which is said to be powered by GameSpy.

Today Nintendo President Satoru Iwata outline the company's bold vision for the future. Iwata made several major announcements during his Game Developers Conference keynote speech such as the fact that the Revolution is proceeding on schedule and will include both backward compatibility and Wi-Fi features. Iwata also announced that Nintendo soon will offer a free Wi-Fi connection service to NDS owners, and demonstrated several new titles using voice recognition, touch-screen control and wireless connectivity.
