Earlier today Nintendo announced a replacement program for the defective Wii remote wrist straps and now we may know the REAL reason why. On December 6th, three lawfirms filed a nationwide class action lawsuit in federal district court in Seattle, Washington, against Nintendo of America, requesting that the defective parts be replaced.

Following reports of flying Wiimotes, broken HDTVs and windows,
Nintendo announced that it will replace all broken straps for it's Wii console, affecting all Nintendo Wiis sold worldwide, inluding those currently on store shelves. Although not admitting any blame, Nintendo said the straps do not present a problem if used correctly. The Japanses giant has also recalled 200,000 AC adapters for its DS and DS Lite consoles, but in Japan, not overseas.

The latest issue of Game Informer reveals some new information about Nintendo's Zelda franchise, some good, some bad. Now that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Wii is available everywhere, sources have it that Nintendo has already been working on an all new title in the franchise, for almost a year, and could see the light of day sooner than expected. Nintendo has launched its new console in Japan, making about 400,000 units available at launch, considerably more than Sony's meager offering at the PS3 launch. Major retail outlet Bic Camera had 3,000 units in store, with hundreds of people lined outside for hours, and pre-orders that sold out across the country in minutes.
