Blizzard Entertainment, a studio of Vivendi Universal Games, today announced plans to premiere a new cinematic trailer for "Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos" in theaters beginning Nov. 22, 2002, with the opening of "James Bond: Die Another Day." The new trailer will appear on more than 20,000 screens across the country before such movies as "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers," "Star Trek: Nemesis," and "Solaris," along with the new Bond film. Additionally, patrons of AMC Theatres will be able to take home a free "Warcraft III Game Sampler" CD-ROM when they purchase a large Coke and a Butterfinger candy bar at the concession stand. This exclusive disc includes a playable demo of the game, featuring three new Warcraft III single-player missions, and three new multiplayer maps to be used with the full version of the game.

Blizzard just informed us that they have released a new update patch for their recently released 3D RTS, WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos. This patch upgrades your WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos to v1.02. Simply connect to Battle.net to download the patch. A standalone version of this patch will be available soon. The V1.2 patch fixes 2 gameplay issues and has a few balance changes. Blizzard Entertainment, a studio of the Games division of Vivendi Universal Publishing, today announced that Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos has surpassed 1 million units sold worldwide, according to EDI sell-through, internal company estimates and reports from key retail accounts around the world. More than 4.4 million units of the game have been shipped to retail to satisfy demand for Warcraft III, which is now the fastest-selling PC game ever, surpassing the records set in 2000 and 2001 by two other Blizzard titles, Diablo II and the expansion set, Diablo II: Lord of Destruction, respectively.

Not that this came as a surprise but Blizzard just announced that Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos is now available at retailers worldwide. With initial orders of over 4.5 million copies, the release of Warcraft III represents the biggest worldwide launch in PC-gaming history. "We're really excited that people are now able to pick up a copy of Warcraft III and start playing the complete game," stated Mike Morhaime, Blizzard Entertainment president and co-founder. "We hope players will enjoy what they see, and we look forward to hearing their thoughts about the game."
