'Battlefield 2' Demo Not Coming In March

A lot of speculations have been going around lately regarding a possible Battlefield 2 demo. A few weeks ago it was said there would be no demo, then denounced as a rumor, then a demo was announced and so forth. Over the weekend people dug up server screenshots indicating a demo was being tested, which now turns out to be only internal EA server for making Battlefield 2 screens they release to the media. Today EA's Ben Smith put up a notice in the Planetbattlefield forums that a demo was NOT coming in March, but once it is ready they would of course notify the community.

'Battlefield 2' Gets Pushed Back to June

DICE's financial results reveals that the release date of Battlefield 2 has now been set to June 2005. This implies that Digital Illusions will not be making any game releases in the first quarter of the current year. During spring 2005 an upgraded version of Battlefield Vietnam will be launched. It will include the actual game as well as additional material released via internet.

Battlefield 2 features immense, richly detailed, destructible environments, from city streets to remote forests, in some of the most notorious hot spots around the world. Each map in Battlefield 2 adjusts in scale to support the number of players in the world, providing the ideal vehicle-to-player ratio and an optimized game play experience. Enhanced team play features allow players to enter the action on the front lines as part of a formal squad, or work behind the scenes in Commander Mode to direct the strategic assaults of their team mates. EA 3rd Quarter Financial Results Reveal 'Battlefield 2' Delay

EA today announced financial results for the third quarter ended December 31, 2004. Net revenue was slightly down, while titles such as NFSU2, NBA Live 2005, Battle For Middle Earth, and Third Age sold more than 1 million copies apiece. EA commented that they were also in the running for the MLBPA license but did not think the economics made sense, so did not fully pursue it. The ESPN license will open the door to new franchises such as Poker, Fishing and possible X-Games based titles. In regards to Ubisoft, EA says it wants to be a good shareholder and and will keep options open, which could mean acquiring additional shares (but it stressed it would not overpay), or simply selling the current stock. Most importantly, it was revealed that Battlefield 2 and MoH: Dogs of War have been delayed until Q1 2006 (April through June). Read more for the detailed financial information..
Electronic Arts Finally Acquires 'Battlefield' Developer DICE

Well you can't say they did not put up a fight, or at least, played hard to get. Electronic Arts today announced the completion of its offer to the shareholders of Digital Illusions CE (DICE). The acceptance period for EA's offer to the shareholders of DICE, made on November 15, 2004, expired on January 20, and shareholders have accepted EA's offer.
