Telltale and GameTap announced that the Sam & Max episodic game series will return this fall for another round of online mayhem. Feature the same quick wit and bizarre scenarios, Season Two will see some changes to the world, and general improvements born out of player feedback.

Telltale and Valve today announced that Sam & Max: Season 1, Telltale's flagship episodic series, is now available on Steam for $8.95. Sam & Max: Season 1 is a story-driven game series starring a dog and rabbity-thing detective duo that dishes out their own brand of justice.

The Adventure Company announced that the retail release of legendary dog and rabbit crime-fighting stars Sam & Max Episode 1 is getting extra goodies. Scheduled for August, it will include a full-size printed color poster and a Bonus CD full of hilarious extras!

It's up to canine shamus Sam and his mildly psychotic rabbity-thing sidekick Max to storm a bizarre lunar paradise and confront the mastermind behind the plot. But will they be able to deliver the unassuming world populace from the jaws of tranquility and prevent an eternity of hypnotic enslavement?

Previously available only via download from Telltale Games or GameTap, Sam & Max: Episodes 1-6 will be coming to retail stores in August 2007. The Adventure Company will distribute the title in North America, while JoWood will publish the game in Europe.

After more than a decade, legendary dog and rabbit crime-fighting Sam & Max have been making several appearances on the PC, as Telltale Games has been developing new episodes every month since Dec. 2006. But as it turns out, the heroic duo might be expanding their territory on the X360 (Xbox Live Arcade maybe) as Telltale is looking for a "systems programmer to move parts of an existing PC game engine to the Xbox 360, implement platform-specific features, and possess a love of adventure games."

Hot on the heels of releasing the second episode in the once dead and now revitalized Sam & Max franchise, Situation: Comedy (demo available here), Telltale puts the pressure on itself by revealing the titles and release dates for the next 3 episodes. Next up is Ep 3: The Mole, the Mob and the Meatball on January 25th, Ep 4: Abe Lincoln Must Die! on February 8 and Ep 5 : Reality 2.0 on March 28, while Ep 6 is still untitled, but due April 28.

Telltale revealed that it would love to bring Sam & Max to the Wii. At the recent Penny Arcade Expo Telltale's CEO Dan Connor think it'd be a good fit and Designer Heather Logas proclaimed that the Wii controller would be for an adventure game.
