The action moves into high gear with the release of Activision, Inc.'s Rally Fusion: Race of Champions. Based on the Michelin Race of Champions, which is held annually in the Canary Islands, the game lets players take on the top racers from the world of motorsport with the ultimate goal of becoming the "Champion of Champions." Developed by Climax, Rally Fusion: Race of Champions for the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system and Xbox video game system from Microsoft has been rated "E" (Everyone) by the ESRB and has a suggested retail price of $49.99.

When Codemasters launches the PC edition of TOCA Race Driver early next year, players will see the circuit and cars ahead and to the sides thanks to its use of Matrox Surround Gaming, which enables the gameplay to be viewed across three linked monitors... Infogrames has just announced that its hugely successful V-Rally brand is speeding onto the Xbox in April 2003. Following on from the unprecedented success of the PlayStation 2 version, V-Rally 3 on Xbox will be the definitive version of this great racer and leave other rally games trailing in its dust.

Expanded, enhanced and an even more professional racing experience, Codemasters confirms "TOCA Race Driver" for Xbox, the video game system from Microsoft, is in development and will launch in March 2003.

TVG let us know that after heated rumours the publisher officially cancels the GameCube version of Rally Fusion: Race of Champions. "Rally Fusion: Race of Champions will not be appearing on the Nintendo GameCube platform as originally planned," said an Activision spokesperson. "Due to unforeseen problems in development, the release date has slipped beyond the Christmas period and we are no longer able to schedule its expected completion date. As a result, the decision has been taken not to precede any further with the project."

Telegraph UK reports that Eidos, the computer games designer, is in last-ditch talks with Sony to meet the November launch date of its latest Lara Croft game for the PlayStation 2. Delaying the high-profile launch - ahead of the vital Christmas trading period - would be a serious blow for Eidos. However, with just four weeks to go, it is understood that Eidos has yet to submit the game to Sony Computer Entertainment for approval. That process usually takes between three and four weeks. Even a week's delay could be damaging for Eidos. In the US, the Thanksgiving weekend of November 29 to 31 is a particularly important selling period.
