Israeli developer Majorem has once again resumed development on its oft cancelled and un-cancelled RTS MMO Ballerium. Only last month did it was halted after Interplay failed to honor its obligations, and now Majorem is getting ready for the next round of betatesting (thanks Blues). Ballerium uses OPIUM technology to create a fully persistent world that is able to handle an infinite number of players. Ballerium looks to be an innovative new entry to the massively multiplayer gaming market, providing players with never before experienced levels of persistence and control.

Claire Forlani is joining the cast of "Dungeon Siege," director Uwe Boll's adaptation of the video game of the same name currently shooting in Vancouver. Forlani will play Solana, wife of the film's hero, Farmer, played by Jason Statham. Forlani has appeared in such films as "Mystery Men" and "Meet Joe Black."

EA has joined forces with Gibson Guitar and Hard Rock International to launch a European-wide music competition for a place on a videogame soundtrack. Dubbed the Burnout Bandslam!, unsigned acts from across Europe can enjoy a summer of hot competition in Hard Rock Cafes in four countries across Europe, for a chance to be featured in a future Burnout game.

The Gamestar September issue has a 6 page preview article on Battle for Middle Earth 2. In contrary to the first BFME title, the sequel will take part in the North where a battle is raging between Sauron's forces vs. elves and dwarves. It will be possible to create/customize your own hero, apart from known figures such as Arwin, and become more powerful as you progress in the game. One of the main changes is that you will no longer be restricted in where you place your buildings, you will have total control over where you want to construct your base. While BFME was all land based, the sequel will also take the action on the sea, naval battles included, courtesy of an updated engine. In short, BFME 2 will have 15 missions per side, new units, new heroes, new races, new multiplayer mode, is currently about 50% complete and is scheduled for Q1 2006.

During last E3 Epic announced it would offer its Unreal Engine 3 for development on the PS3, and today Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. announced that it had entered into a strategic licensing agreement with Epic Games, through which SCEI obtains sublicensing rights of Unreal Engine 3.

Mythic Entertainment today announced the "Come Back to Camelot" Campaign, which invites past Dark Age of Camelot players to experience the game's upgrades and additions free of charge for ten days. Not a big surprise considering its retail success, through an interview with IGN, EA revealed that its DICE development studio is working on an expansion pack for its recently released multiplayer FPS sequel Battlefield 2. While the original game is being fought out between regular grunts, BF2: Special Forces will beef up all the classes to Special Forces and add 7-8 new night/day maps (smaller troop oriented, urban environment, airport map, missile launch facility etc.), gadgets (night vision and grappler/zipline, flashbang, tear gas), six new armies (Navy Seals, British SAS, Russian Spetznaz, MEC Special Forces and two insurgent groups), ten new vehicles, and twelve new base weapons. Battlefield 2: Special Forces is expected Fall of 2005.

Microsoft announced that it has signed exclusive rights to develop and publish MMO games featuring Marvel Enterprises' super heroes, including Spider-man, the X-men and the Hulk. The deal covers massively multiplayer online (MMO) game titles developed for Microsoft's upcoming Xbox 360 and published by the game studio. The deal is Marvel's first MMO pact, and the first title is expected in 2008.

Atari announced today that it has signed a licensing agreement with Activision to include Pitfall! and River Raid in Atari's forthcoming Atari Flashback 2. Celebrating the 30th anniversary of Atari's first home game console, PONG, Atari Flashback 2 features more than 40 classic games, including arcade classics, previously unreleased titles from the Atari vault and rare homebrew games created by fans and supporters of Atari's early console models.

NovaLogic today has announced that its PS2/Xbox tactical shooter Delta Force: Black Hawk Down has gone gold. Rated "T" for teen by the ESRB, the game features an expansive single player campaign and breaks new ground in the multiplayer arena by allowing up to 50 players to battle over Xbox Live, or up to 32 players on PS2 via GameSpy.
