Immersion Corp. announced Elite Interactive, maker and distributor of consumer video game products, as its newest gaming licensee. Elite Interactive integrated haptic (force feedback) technology in the new X-Calibur and Katana controllers, its first gamepads to include force feedback capabilities for the Xbox and the PlayStation 2, respectively.
Both gamepads let gamers feel every turn, bump and dip during gameplay, providing a more realistic and engaging experience. For example, a player can feel the difference between driving on gravel or colliding with a barrier. In addition, force feedback gives gamers the opportunity to improve performance.

THQ Inc. today announced the release of Rainbow Studios' Splashdown Rides Gone Wild, the sequel to the critically acclaimed, top-selling Splashdown. The game marks the first Rainbow Studios' title published by THQ since the company acquired Rainbow in 2002. LucasArts’ Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, a new role-playing game for the Xbox video game system from Microsoft, has flown off store shelves at light speed in its first two weeks of availability, selling more than 270,000 units. The game, which debuted July 16, set a new record for Xbox game sales, selling through its initial allocation in its first four days of release.

NDL, a developer of 3D graphics technology for the computer and video game industry, announced today that it has issued a publishing license of its Gamebryo 3D graphics engine and toolkit to Vivendi Universal Games.
