CDV Software Entertainment UK is today cracking open the vodka to celebrate the publication of this week's Charttrack sales figures, which show that Cossacks, its classic real-time strategy game, has just sold its 100,000th unit in the UK and therefore qualifies for a coveted Silver Award from the European Leisure Software Publishers Association (ELSPA).

Shrapnel Games is now offering a playable demo of the new tactical war game from the creatures of Brigade Combat Team, Armored Task Force. The game represents a whole new approach to wargaming as they "have modeled the entire battlefield, practically down to the bolts on the road wheels!". The official Red Faction 2 web site now has a sign-up page where people can fill in to receive a free Playstation 2 demo disk containing a partial build of Volition and THQ's upcoming "destroy everything" first person shooter sequel. Only the first 20,000 people who sign up will receive demo disks and only accept US and Canadian entries.

Xicat Interactive, a Ft. Lauderdale-based video game publisher is set to release its newest title in the hugely popular team play category, U.S. Special Forces: Team Factor. Got Game Entertainment today announced an agreement with PAN Vision for North American publishing rights to "Adam Blaster: Atomic Enforcer," a third person, real-time 3D action/adventure for the PC. The title is expected to ship in November 2002.

Bandai Co. plans to develop games for Nintendo Co.'s GameCube video-game console, the first titles from Japan's largest toymaker specifically designed for the Kyoto-based company's new game machine. The software will go on sale in Japan in November, Nintendo said in a news release distributed to reporters in Osaka. Nintendo will handle distribution of the game.

Ubi Soft Entertainment today announced a pre-order program for Catz 5 and Dogz 5, the newest editions of its best-selling Petz family. Petz fans can now pre-order both titles through Ubi.com or Amazon.com reserving their copies for when the games hit North American retail shelves in mid-November. Additionally, Ubi Soft announced that anyone purchasing any two Petz 5 titles (two copies of Catz 5 or Dogz 5, or one of each) can also receive a $10 mail-in rebate. Ubi Soft Entertainment today announced that it will publish the hugely popular role-playing game Lunar Legend for the Game Boy Advance in North America this fall.
