Vivendi Universal Publishing (VU Publishing) announced today the formation of Black Label Games, Inc., a new development studio that will publish PC and console-based interactive entertainment products for the company's global Games division, Vivendi Universal Games (VU Games). The new studio will develop titles based on original intellectual properties, as well as content licensed from external strategic partners. Black Label Games joins VU Games' roster of industry- leading studios, which includes Blizzard Entertainment, NDA Productions, Sierra Entertainment and Universal Interactive.

Vivendi Universal Publishing today announced that it has signed an exclusive North American distribution agreement with Viacom's digital entertainment unit Simon & Schuster Interactive (S&SI). Through VU Publishing's Games division (VU Games), the company will distribute interactive products published by S&SI over the next two years. Vivendi Universal Publishing (VU Publishing) today announced a worldwide development agreement with 2015, Inc., the acclaimed creators of Medal of Honor Allied Assault. The agreement grants VU Publishing's Games division exclusive rights to publish, market and distribute 2015's upcoming action title, while 2015 will be responsible for creation of the game. The game will be published by VU Games' Sierra Entertainment studio.

Vivendi, Interscope Records and recording artist No Doubt announce today their collaboration on the upcoming release of Malice, a character-based, action-adventure game, developed by Argonaut and published by Sierra. This partnership will feature several of the band’s songs in the upcoming game, as well as introduce lead vocalist Gwen Stefani as the voice of unexpected, hammer-wielding heroine, Malice, and band members Tony Kanal, Tom Dumont and Adrian Young as voices of her cronies within the game. Malice is due to release worldwide this fall on both the Xboxand the PS2 .

Blizzard Entertainment, along with its parent company Vivendi Universal Games, late Friday sued a small Internet Service Provider and its owner for distributing free software that emulates Blizzard's free Battle.net gaming service. The lawsuit claims that the creation and offering of the "bnetd" free software emulator for Blizzard games violates copyright and trademark laws.

Vivendi Universal Publishing, a division of Vivendi Universal, and Argonaut Software Ltd. today announced an exclusive long-term deal to publish the much-anticipated title Malice: Kat’s Tale. The game is due to release next fall under the Sierra brand on Xbox, and another, yet to be announced, next-generation console. Also expected on the Playstation2.
