After a false start yesterday, I finally got L.A. Noire to work on the PC. Quite a few people must have had the same issue, as Rockstar put up a note about it on their support page, and the fix resolved my issue. The facial animations are amazing to watch, and even body language plays a role in the game as an interrogation feature.
