Earlier this year,
Ubisoft's 2005-2006 release schedule made mention that Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell was going to be making an appearance on the PSP. While there still has not been an official announcement rumors are floating around that it may be called Splinter Cell : Essentials, and that name might indicate some sort of compilation instead of an all new product. Either way, the PSP will most likely includes wifi multiplayer, which is always a welcome addition.

Ubisoft's latest Sam Fisher installment is currnetrly only known Splinter Cell 4, but according to domain registration Ubisoft has obtained SplinterCellDoubleAgent.com in early October and to add more credibility to the possible subtitle, early November Ubisoft also registered the Splinter Cell Double Agent trade mark with the United States Patent and Trademark office. So far there has been very little info revealed about the game's story, features or its official name. Now that the cat is out of the bag, an official announcement will most likely follow shortly.

Ubisoft today announced that new downloadable content is available on XBOX Live for owners of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory. The Content Download for Splinter Cell Chaos Theory includes 2 new Coop missions that continue the Coop story and bring it to the end. The 2 missions are: Nuclear Plant, and UN Headquarters. Both new missions are playable in Split Screen, System Link and Xbox Live, both missions are playable only in Mission and Elite Mode.

DreamWorks announced today that is close to acquiring the film rights to Tom Clancy's videogame "Splinter Cell" where the script will be written by Daniel PyneDaniel Pyne ("The Manchurian Candidate"). This move means Dreamworks would take the project over from Paramount, where it was originally set up last winter.

Today the first details from the next game in the Splinter Series have been revealed. According to rumors, there will be a PS2 edition available, but no PS3 version. SC4 is situated in 2007 and will take you to various places such as Madrid, Lisbon, Rio de Janeiro, New York and Berlin. There are quite a few new features added to the new title, such as the requirement for Sam Fisher to find food and eat on longer missions, exercising to stay in shape, using a raft in certain missions, and although no specifics were disclosed, co-op mode will return (thanks JeuxFrance). While this info is to be taken with a grain of salt, Splinter Cell 4 is expected on all platforms in March 2006.

Ubisoft announced today that it will launch the Splinter Cell Chaos Theory “Best Map” contest this summer. Everyone can create his own map thanks to the map editor provided with the game. The Jury – whose members are the creators of the Versus Mode from Ubisoft’s studio in Annecy (France)– will reward the 10 best maps created. Among the prizes to be distributed: Graphic card Point of View / GeForce 6800 GT AGP 256 Mo, statues of Sam Fisher, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory notebooks signed by the developers of the Versus mode.
