BAM! Entertainment today announced that it has obtained the rights to publish id Software’s Wolfenstein 3D for the Game Boy Advance. Originally developed and released for the PC in 1992, Wolfenstein 3D has become one of the most critically acclaimed and widely recognized gaming franchises ever, including a 1995 induction into Computer Gaming World’s Gaming Hall of Fame. Wolfenstein 3D for the Game Boy Advance is a joint development effort between id Software and Dallas-based studio Stalker Entertainment.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein has gotten even more recognition: the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences has awarded the game both Best Online Game of the Year and Best Computer Action/Adventure Game of the Year! So the next time you're going behind enemy lines on a server near you, give a shout out to Nerve and Gray Matter for creating the game that everyone is playing!

Robert Duffy from Id Software has updated his .plan to clear up a bit of confusion initially surrounding the Return to Castle Wolfenstein tools SDK that was released yesterday. Here is a snip:

To clear up a bit of confusion, what we released yesterday was the level editing tools and not the full SDK for Wolfenstein. Everything is there to create both single-player and multi-player maps. Also included is Escape ( from single-player ) and Beach ( from multi-player ) for reference.

The source code will be available soon.

id Software sends word that the SDK for Return to Castle Wolfenstein is now available for download from their ftp server here or get it locally off our own server. The 13.5 MB download includes all the tools needed for creating maps and modifications.

As expected and mentioned last friday ... the 1.1 Update patch for Return to Castle Wolfenstein has arrived ... fairly small (1.5 mb) the patch mainly fixes multiplayer issues and server stability. Activision gave us an update on the 1.1 patch for Castle Wolfenstein. It looks like the patch will be released on Monday and not today as some sites hinted. Here is a snap..

The Return to Castle Wolfenstein 1.1 multiplayer patch that was originally scheduled to be released late this week will be available on Monday. We had a minor issue with the update installer which we have fixed and are now testing. This is a multiplayer only patch (does not affect single player at all), and will be compatible with the original 1.0 version of the game.

I just received a mail with the story.. There is now 2 new Return to Castle Wolfenstien Skin Mods available on planetentropy. The mods are named Topless Elite's and Nude Elite's.. No need for a vivid imagination with names like THAT eh? We grabbed a few screens from the Topless Elite's mod. Check them out and you will also find the links there.. RTCW online just put up 3 nasty looking new Wolfenstein Wallpapers on there site. Each wallpaper comes in three resolutions. Take a look and grab them here..

There will be no Nazi forces in the German version of Return to Castle Wolfenstein. The content has been changed to get the game in those territories.. Well if you are in Germany then you won't see Nazis in Return To Castle Wolfenstein. According to source over in Germany, they have "replaced the Nazis with a cult called The Wolves" and "renamed Heinrich Himmler to Heinrich Höller." Yakk that sucks.. Kevin Cloud from id Software just updated his .plan with several tidbits about Return to Castle Wolfenstein, including follow-ups on the report of future Nerve Software multiplayer map releases.

Retail outlets are bracing for the blitzkrieg with the announcement that id Software's Return to Castle Wolfenstein™ for the PC is now available. Activision, Inc. and id Software confirmed today that the title has been shipped to retailers and will be available on November 30th for a suggested retail price of £39.99.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein from Activision must be one of the hottest and most anticipated titles at this point. Activision let us know that Wolfenstein X posted a pair of official type wallpapers of the game. Return to Castle Wolfenstein will start to show up in stores today.

This is really good news. Return to Castle Wolfenstein has gone gold. This first-person shooter will hit store shelves on November 21!

Activision just released an updated Return to Castle Wolfenstein demo that is 60 megs. It's essentially the same as the first demo, but has a few bug fixes and engine improvements. No patch avaliable so you have to download the whole thing again to play on the updated servers. Return to Castle Wolfenstein will ship on 11/23 2001. Grab this new version over at BluesNews.
