While Disney
has been laying off people at various internal development studios, it seems it also maybe have a new Tron title in the works. According to
Variety sources, TR2N will be tied to the film sequel that its sibling studio is producing, starring Jeff Bridges, Garret Hedlund and Olivia Wilde and be directed by Joseph Kosinski. The movie is currently scheduled for 2011, which gives DIS plenty of time to work out a quality product to coincide with the movie release.

Earlier today, rumors started flying around the internets that Disney Interactive Studios had fired over 50 employees of British Columbia-based studio Propaganda Games, known for last year's Turok and currently working on two unannounced titles, but while DIS itself confirmed layoffs, it insisted that fewer than 30 people were let go. At the same time, DIS revealed that it was going to consolidate its Salt Lake City-based studios Avalanche Software (Chicken Little/Bolt) and Fall Line Studios (Chronicles of Narnia), which resulted in another 20 people getting the pink slip.

lower-than-expected financial result, EA's overall market value has dropped more than half, from $19 billion to $7.2 billion. Disney owns ESPN, which is already in cahoots with EA on the Madden franchise, and Disney Interactive could otherwise more wisely spend its $200 million internal development budget among the EA studios, apart from the fact that there is a lot of new IP that could be turned into movies (Mirror's Edge, Dead Space) or games (Pixar).
