Konami announced DanceDanceRevolution: Disney Grooves, developed by DDR: Hottest Party studio Bemani, for the Wii, combining the popular rhythm-dancing phenomenon with classic Disney songs and characters creating a "must-have" for fans.

DanceDanceRevolution: Disney Channel Edition features music and characters from some of Disney Channel's favorite TV shows and movies, including Hannah Montana, High School Musical, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, That's So Raven, The Cheetah Girls, Kim Possible and more. The game contains 40 songs that can be unlocked by completing various gameplay challenges.

Disney Sing It is the new karaoke video game that allows fans to perform more than 35 songs from Camp Rock, High School Musical, Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus, Aly & AJ, Jesse McCartney and more.

Disney Interactive Studios announced an agreement to acquire Chinese independent developer Gamestar. With locations in Shanghai and Wuhan, Gamestar was founded in 2002 and has collaborated on several titles with international partners.

US Xbox 360 owners will see the kick-off of a strong month of content coming from new partners like ABC (Lost, Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy), Disney Channel and MGM. The launch of Lost coincides with the show’s season premiere, with new episodes arriving on Xbox Live within 24 hours of airing on TV.

The Walt Disney Company has acquired Club Penguin, a snow-covered virtual world featuring animated penguin avatars, where kids converse with other users, participate in group activities and create and furnish a virtual home with currency earned inside the game.

At a briefing in London Disney's CFO Tom Staggs told journalists that Disney is "ramping up our investment in video games," and plans to triple the amount of money it spends developing video games. Last year's budget reached $100 million, this year $130 million is set aside, and in the next 5 years Staggs said Disney wants to invest $350 million per year in video games, principally consoles and handhelds. Market researcher forecasts the gaming software market will be worth $21.3 billion in 2009.
