Q: You used the new Unreal Technology to develop Raven Shield. What does it allow to do in terms of graphics? What are the strong points? And the challenges?

True, we are using the ever-evolving Unreal technology. I say ever-evolving cause one of the biggest challenges is to keep up with constant changes made in the toolset. It's also true that UnrealEd is not exactly made for our needs, so we have to do our own modifications in the tools some times. On the other hand, we have a state-of-the-art technology that allows us to display a lot of stuff.

'Rainbow Six:Raven Shield' Developer Chat Log

Ubi Soft updated the official Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Raven Shield website with a full transcript of their first developer chat log. The chat log was posted on the German Raven Shield website and has Mike McCoy (Lead Game Designer), Joel Trembley (Programmer) and Chadi Lebbos (Producer) discussing aspects such as online play, gameplay modes, and player interaction with in-game characters. While the chat log was conducted on the German section of the website its been translated into English. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Raven Shield follows Team Rainbow as they try to retrieve a cache of biological weapons while stopping a London bank from being terrorized. The game makes its debut this fall on Xbox & PC.

E3 is over, the hype around Raven Shield is getting bigger. E3 was awesome for Raven Shield, the press and fans that came to the booth were really excited from what they have seen in the single demo version and multiplayer. We had people playing for hours on the multiplayer station, and always wanting more. Let me tell you that we saw HUGE smiles on peoples face once they tried it, that's just cool! Tiscali have posted a new Rainbow Six: Raven Shield E3 trailer, which contains three minutes of in-game footage from this Unreal-powered tactical shooter from UbiSoft. This 12 MB DivX version is available for download here. They also posted the E3 video from Rise of Nations, upcoming real-time strategy from Microsoft and Big Huge Games. Its 4.5MB big, contains 1 minute of gameplay scenes and it's available in WMV here!
