You Know Who You Are, You Just Have To Remember

by Rainier on July 2, 2011 @ 12:00 a.m. PDT | Filed under MOTD

We saw Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and wow, that movie is seriously GOOD! I'm not sure why some people have negative comments or reviews on it. You won't find the meaning of life in this movie; it's nothing more than an amazingly good blow-sh*t-up action movie, with some popcorn on the side please!

I'm not really that big of a Transformers fan, but I do know an entertaining movie when I see one, and this surely hits the spot. Megan Fox isn't missed at all because if you see a movie with giant robots, tons of buildings blowing up, massive special effects, and a few jokes here and there, but all you do is watch the female lead, then you're in the wrong movie. Eye candy is nice — and don't get me wrong, she IS sizzling — but Optimus Prime getting his arm chopped off by Megatron is WAY better.

Be sure to check out Adam's Transformers movie review and Brian's Transformers video game review.

There Are More Bad Guys Than We've Got Bullets

We decided to watch 1991's Showdown in Little Tokyo, featuring Dolph Lundgren and Brandon Lee, on Netflix, and we shouldn't have. I remember that back in the day, the movie was pretty good, but watching it 20 years later, it's amazingly bad. The one-liners are horrible, the acting is weak, and what the hell are they wearing!?

Keep an eye out on our Twitter account later today. We'll be giving away XBLA codes for Call Of Duty: Black Ops - Annihilation DLC. We've also posted a review of the Annihilation map pack, which Sanford apparently enjoyed quite a bit.

Hey, our Joe Bonamassa tickets arrived!

Lust Awakens The Desire To Possess, And That Awakens The Intent To Murder

This weekend, Transformers: Dark of the Moon opens (check our movie review), so we'll probably watch that or Green Lantern, which is still on our list. Tough choice. Guess we may have to see them both!

Been trying out World Of Tanks a little bit, and while the game has some serious potential, its biggest pitfall is the steep learning curve. You can either play as a tank in the field with first-person view or as artillery with an overhead view of the map. Enemy tanks can only be seen when they are within regular first-person view or when spotted by friendly tanks. Good artillery support can make all the difference in a match.

Can I Have Another One Of These With Some Booze In It?

While we're still working on bringing WorthDownloading back online on the older server, we've decided to be redundant and also work on a brand new server. It'll be bigger, better and faster, but that will take an extra few days. We apologize for the inconvenience, but as cliched as it may sound, it'll be for the best.

Much to the disappointment of my wife, I've hit the trifecta in APB Reloaded: I managed to kill JasonStatham, BruceWillis and MattDamon, all in one match. I'm now the biggest and baddest action hero left standing!

Watched some more Justified, and Leverage...

He Was Like A Lantern, He Helped Me To See Things Clear

by Rainier on June 28, 2011 @ 12:00 a.m. PDT | Filed under MOTD

Well, yesterday was no fun. Our WorthDownloading server was hanging on by a thread for some reason and then ended up dying with a hard drive crash. While I was trying to tend to that emergency, the main WorthPlaying server went belly-up as well.

Both Web sites run off different, dedicated servers due to the volume of traffic they generate, and they're even in two different locations, so conspiracy theories were flying through my head. What are the chances of two servers in different locations crapping out at the same time? Slim to none.

While the WorthPlaying issue was easily fixed (a stupid router issue), the WD fix might take a little longer. Turns out our promised hardware upgrades never happened. The old equipment just gave out, and a new HD has already been plugged in, but we need to reinstall a bunch of stuff to make it operational.

We Are Protected By The Enormity Of Your Stupidity

The weekend was great! The weather held up great, we went hiking, played a few games (Red Faction Armageddon, Stronghold Kingdoms, APB Reloaded and even some Duke Nukem Forever), and yesterday we went to see Super 8. It's not the best movie but entertaining enough. Somebody described Super 8 as a mixture between Stand By Me and E.T. Seems like an odd comparison, but now that we've seen it, it's pretty accurate.

We also watched some more Leverage and the newest episode of Falling Skies, which is shaping up to be a solid series.

Now on to work ...

Is That What You Call Running? If I Knew You Were Going To Stroll...

Yesterday was such a beautiful day. It was nice and sunny but not too hot, with a nice little breeze. Doesn't get much better than that! Amazingly enough, we actually decided to put down the cookies, get off the couch, strap on the boots and go for a hike. Nothing too crazy, a few hours just to ease us back into it. Maybe we'll crank it up a little next week.

We also watched some more Amazing Race and a few episodes of Leverage. Perhaps later today, we'll head out to watch either Green Lantern or Super 8.

Apart from that, no plans whatsoever. Should be great! :)

How Do You Live A Life Full Of Nothing?

by Rainier on June 25, 2011 @ 12:00 a.m. PDT | Filed under MOTD

We went to see Bad Teacher last night, and the movie did not disappoint. To our surprise, the theater was packed when we arrived, so that bodes well for the revenue. If you like raunchy but hilarious humor, then you have to watch it.

I also watched Sniper: Reloaded, mainly because I've seen the other three movies in the series, and while it's not bad, it was quite mediocre with plenty of cliches.

Our sympathy goes out to the friends and family of Peter Falk, the Oscar-nominated and Emmy Award-winning actor best known for his role as TV detective Columbo, who died Thursday at the age of 83.

Whatever You Say, I'm Sorry. You're The Man. The Dude In The Chair

This weekend, we're either going to watch "Bad Teacher," "Super 8" or "Green Lantern." Adam caught an advance screening of "Cars 2" and wrote up the movie review.

We finally started watching The Amazing Race "Unfinished Business" season, but it seems our favorite cowboys are off their game and not doing too well.

Gaming-wise, I'm still enthralled by Red Faction Armageddon, and maybe I'll get the courage to continue playing Duke Nukem Forever. It's gotten better after the first hour, so hopefully, we're working our way up.

I've Let The Devil Grab Hold Of Me In Ways I Never Imagined! I'm So Full Of Sin

Last night, we went to dinner with Adam to celebrate his girlfriend's birthday, so now we're all stuffed and ready for a nap.

This coming Friday, we're giving away more freebies. This week, we have a few PC copies of Dungeon Siege 1, 2 AND 3 that we are releasing into the wild, so follow us on our official Twitter and toss your hat in the ring.

I've always been a fan of the Dungeon Siege series, so I'll have to get my own copy of the game so I can hack 'n' slash my way through the game. In the meantime, Red Faction: Armageddon keeps me happily occupied.

I shouldn't have said anything about the good weather! I jinxed it, and the forecast is now projecting the temperatures to drop over the next few days. Booooo!

Bought tickets to see Joe Bonamassa but had to get some nosebleed seats because that thing was expensive! We've been to quite a few concerts over the years, and $50 tickets got us seats in the back. That's more than we usually pay for front row/pit seats.

I finally got around to playing Red Faction: Armageddon and am greatly enjoying it. While the franchise is known for is destructible environment, I'm having tons of fun with the "reconstruct" option. Can't get enough of it!

The Stars... There's No Right Or Wrong In Them. They're Just There

Well, once again, a little nap lasted longer than it should have ....

The weather is still amazing, nice and warm with a little breeze to bring in some fresh air now and then. Forecast says it's going to be like this for the rest of the week. Excellent! Time for the lawn chair on the patio!?

Oh, Great. If Anyone Attacks We Can Blink Em' To Death

by Rainier on June 20, 2011 @ 12:00 a.m. PDT | Filed under MOTD

Our movie streak continued, albeit cut short by a Netflix/AppleTV failure for some reason. We watched Conviction and the premiere of Falling Skies.

Liked the new series, probably best described as a mix of Terminator meets The Walking Dead. The first two hours did a good job of introducing the characters, plenty of things blowing up, and from the teaser scenes, the best is yet to come.

Bad Teacher is coming out this weekend. We're SO there!

The Path Of The Righteous Is Glorious, Unless They Are Wrong

by Rainier on June 19, 2011 @ 12:00 a.m. PDT | Filed under MOTD

This weekend has been filled with watching movies. Love it! So far, we've seen Skyline (yuck!), X-Men: First Class (really good),  Black Death (not bad), and Ip Man (movie based on the legendary story of Bruce Lee's grand master). We were supposed to be going hiking, but after we ate breakfast (at noon), we got a sudden case of the lazies and decided to stay home. Yeah, we're dedicated all right!

Tonight is the season finale of Game Of Thrones (oh, the suspense!) and the two-hour premiere of Falling Skies (this better not disappoint).

In between all the movie and TV watching, I've played some APB Reloaded (yesterday s**ked, got my ass handed to me all day long), and Duke Nukem Forever (hmm, not too thrilled with it, too much idling and vent crawling).

This Could Be The Death Of An Entire Way Of Life, The End Of An Era...

There was a little PR scuffle today with Duke Nukem Forever. The Redner Group, which was the PR firm in charge of the title, threatened to remove journalists from the press list if they gave DNF a low review score. 2K Games took swift action and issued a statement clarifying that they do not condone this type of behavior and that The Redner Group will no longer be representing 2K (AKA fired!).

After months of mediocre weather, summer is rearing its pretty head. The sun is out and about, and the temperatures are rising. About time!

Time to check out Duke Nukem Forever, The Witcher 2 and Red Faction: Armageddon.

There's Nothing I Like Better Than To Meet A High-Class Mama That Can Snap 'em Back At Ya

Damn, that was a pretty slow day yesterday, but I guess everybody did their thing during E3, so it might be boring for the next week or two.

Haven't had a chance to try Duke Nukem Forever yet, but I've been seeing reviews and feedback that is all over the place. Some people claim it's juvenile, boring and ugly, and others say it's fun and not exactly revolutionary, but still a decent game. Guess I'll have to play it myself to judge.

However, what I'm really looking forward to is Falling Skies, a new sci-fi TV series about some sort of alien invasion with Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Dale Dye (also know for working with Gearbox on Brothers In Arms) and a bunch of others. Starting this Sunday, it'll tide me over until The Walking Dead comes back!

Let Me Remind You That Even The Most Unworthy Of Us Has A Right To Life

by Rainier on June 14, 2011 @ 12:00 a.m. PDT | Filed under MOTD

The lollygagging is over and the birthday festivities are over. We're post E3, so there are plenty of things to catch up on.

Yesterday was mostly spent either playing APB Reloaded or watching movies (Edge of Darkness, Percy Jackson, old Buster Keaton movie called Sherlock Jr.).

I've got to get some batteries for my Russian KV-1 (Kliment Voroshilov) Ehkranami Remote Control RC Airsoft Tank that we got from Wargaming.net to promote their World Of Tanks MMO. Tony has already tried it out ,fired at his front door as a test run, and actually dented it. Ouch!

What Did Your Mother Die Of? Three Bullets.

The birthday festivities have come to an end, and it was awesome. While the party wasn't exactly a surprise, I did not know what the plans were, so it all got exciting when a white limo pulled up and shuttled me and a few friends to an unknown location. We met up with some more friends and then took a little boat to a tiny island. Turns out the captain of the boat built himself a party refuge back in the '70s just outside the marina (about a 30-second ride), which he slowly turned into a restaurant over the years. The staff was awesome, the food was great, and the company was even better!

Oh and prior to that, we watched The Hangover II, Hanna, and the latest episode of Game of Thrones. All quite good stuff ...

We have all arrived home safely from our E3 trip. While it was fun, it's even better to be home again. We're going to relax a bit this weekend and have a little celebration on Sunday as it is my birthday, but apart from that, it should be pretty relaxing.

We've got plenty of previews coming in the next few days, so keep an eye out, and we're also still giving away our last remaining OnLive Game System through our official Twitter, so if you feel like rolling the dice, go participate.

Now I'm off to play with my remote-controlled tank (more details on that later), without a doubt the best E3 swag.

There's A Spider In Your Bathroom The Size Of A Buick

The last day of E3 is upon us, and we're mighty glad it is. While the show is fun, we're equally glad when it's over.

This year, we've seen quite a few new oddities. There are large, middle-aged gamers who have such severe mobility issues that they're in scooters. Somebody had a seizure and dropped to the floor while gaming. Last but not least, we saw somebody who was so fat that he had to lie on his side to eat lunch. If it weren't so embarrassing, I'd have taken a photo as proof. I'm not insensitive, but those things stood out more than in previous years.

Tomorrow we are flying back home, and we can start catching up on the dozens of press kits. Joy!
