Another day, another batch of games shipped to stores. Instead of giving them all their own posts, we grouped them, and so far there are announcements for:

'BioShock' Movie No Longer Directed by Gore Verbinski

The BioShock movie adaptation of 2K's action game will begin production in 2010, and John Logan (The Aviator, Star Trek: Nemesis) has written the screenplay, while BioShock creator Ken Levine is consulting. Earlier this year Pirates of The Carribean's Gore Verbinski hit a snag and the BioShock film was put on hold. Excessive budget concerns made Universal Pictures ask the involved parties to look for an alternate filming location. Due to the delay the filming now conflicts with Verbinski's next movie Rango, and while he is still going to produce, the directing has been passed on to 28 Weeks Later's Juan Carlos Fresnadillo.

'Section 8' (ALL) Gets Original Music Score

Section 8 is a futuristic FPS that brings strategy and tactics to the genre in a game where players can modify the battlefield on the fly. You are part of an elite infantry squad with a penchant for taking on suicide missions that no one else will tackle.

Majesco Shuts Down L.A. Studio

Former Majesco Santa Monica artist Valerie Schoman revealed that Majesco has decided to shut down the Los Angeles, California-based studio. A few years back, Majesco found itself in a spat of financial trouble, but after some rigorous cutbacks and restructuring has been on the path to recovery, so it comes as a surprise to hear about the closure. The L.A. studio developed two NDS titles (one due soon) and was said to be working on its first Wii game (thanks superannuation).

'Furry Legends' (Wii) Going Multiplatform

In Furry Legends, a casual action and platform game, players take control of unique characters who are best described as a furry ball, each with its unique powers, allowing the player to roll, jump, bounce, attack and perform other various moves with their spherical character. Without going into specifics, Furry Legends developer Gamelion revealed it's coming to new platforms.

Nintendo added a VC, a NDSi, and one WiiWare titles to the Shop Channels. Nintendo owners with online access can redeem Points to download: PictureBook Games: Mr. Driller W (Wiiware), Pop+ Solo (NDSiWare), and Super Empire Strikes Back (VC).

'Commandos 4' Revealed

Pyro Studios, currently working on Planet 51, revealed that the Spanish studio will be working on a new installment in its popular Commandos franchise as soon as it wraps up the animated film-based action/adventure. While the first two titles were a big success, the 3rd one, making the move from strategy to 3d FPS, was not, so Pyro Studios has decided to go back to its roots and make Commandos 4 a real-time strategy game. No further details, nor a projected release date, were disclosed.

Advent Rising is a third-person, intergalactic action/adventure of epic proportions, akin to a fast-paced action movie where the player is swept up in an ever-evolving series of sequences and events. Originally developed by GlyphX Games, the game's designer Donald Mustard, now with Epic studio's Chair Entertainment, which is comprised of several former AR developers, would love to continue the original trilogy idea, but the IP is owned by Majesco.

'WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010' (ALL) Gets Release Dates

'StarCraft II' Signs Battlestar's Tricia Helfer to Voice Kerrigan

StarCraft II will feature the return of the Protoss, Terran, and Zerg races, overhauled and re-imagined with Blizzard's approach to game balance, designed to be the ultimate competitive RTS game. At Blizzcon's StarCraft II lore panel, Blizzard revealed that Battlestar Galactica star Tricia Helfer will voice Kerrigan.

Batman: Arkham Asylum is a 3rd-person action game powered by the Unreal Engine 3, that exposes players to a unique, dark and atmospheric adventure that takes them to the depths of Arkham Asylum – Gotham's psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane. With the game due in stores next week, an in-game advert revealed that a FREE DLC will be available soon on both PS3/X360.

'Valkyria Chronicles 2' (PSP) - 5 New Screens

The story of Valkyria Chronicles II takes place two years after the conclusion of the original game. Deep Silver Acquires Sacred License, Third Title Planned

Sacred 2 is a action-oriented deep fantasy RPG where players are immersed in an epic journey through the medieval-like kingdom of Ancaria featuring pitched battles and a wide range of enticing quests. While Sacred 2 has been quite a success, it was the demise of publisher Ascaron, and the developer recently closed down. Deep Silver will be publishing the addon later this year, and revealed at GamesCom that it has acquired the license, and Sacred 3 is already in the planning stage.
