Game British Academy Video Games Award Nominations Announced

The Academy announced the nominations for the GAME British Academy Video Games Awards which this year feature 39 different games, lead by Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare's seven BAFTA nominations, Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA IV) garners six, Fable II and LittleBigPlanet follow with five each, Steven Spielberg wins his first video games nomination for Boom Blox.

Tetris Party will feature 18 game modes with 10 never-before-seen single-player and multiplayer variations of Tetris, including modes that utilize the point-and-shoot capabilities of the Wii Remote, as well as the recently released Wii Balance Board. Tetris Party Tournament will test the skills of players in a variety of Tetris modes, including Marathon, Field Climber and Stage Racer.

While a 4 player co-op enabled demo will be available on Xbox Live Feb. 11, 2009 (2 AM PST), Ubisoft will release a PS3 and PC demo on Feb. 26, 2009, which we'll have available on our fileserver network.

Xfire Integrates In-Game Browser

Xfire's latest release includes an in-game web browser, so gamers who already use Xfire to chat with friends, take screenshots and capture game-play video no longer have to alt-tab away from their game. "Scroll Lock + W" or a simple search from the main Xfire window launches the new web browser in-game.

'Street Fighter IV' (ALL) - 47 New Screens

SF IV features a mix of returning favorites (Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li etc.) along with new characters created for this game, such as Crimson Viper, Abel, El Fuerte, and Rufus. Characters and environments are rendered in stylized 3D, while the game is played in the classic 2D perspective with additional 3D camera flourishes.

'Splatterhouse' (PS3/X360) Developer Booted, Goes In-House

Originally scheduled for Feb. 4, then bumped to Feb. 11, 2009, and now set for Feb 24, 2009.
