PS3 Console To Be Released In 2005

Japanese media reported on May 6th that the PS3 console is in development. The goal is to make new processor technology, called "grid" about 200x faster than current console technology. This is almost achieving their original goal of making the PS3 1000(!) times faster than the PS2. This goal was publicly set by Mr Okamoto, the Senior VP and Chief Technical Officer of Sony Computer Entertainment, at the 2002 Game Developers Conference in San Jose, California. 'Purge' - Beta Signup & Screens

A dozen new screenshots of Purge have been posted from the upcoming Purge beta. Images depict the wildly varied maps in Purge, from a six-story building to an outdoor snowy landscape. Last minute beta signups are still open. Purge begins its closed beta on June 1st. "Purge is an online-only computer game. It is a hybrid Role-Playing-Game / First-Person-Shooter set in the near future accounting a war between the diametrically opposed forces of science-fiction (the Order) and fantasy (the Chosen). Technology versus magic. Science versus religion. Purge is being developed by Freeform Interactive LLC and utilizes the LithTech Talon system".

Rage Software announced today that their 'vehicular team-based shooter' "Mobile Forces" has gone gold. "Mobile Forces is expected in stores in Europe end of May 2002 (retail price of £24.99). US people will have to be a little bit more patient as US Publisher Majesco has not yet confirmed a street date. If you cant wait then you can always check out the demo.

First 'Breed' Q&A

We received a bunch of mail about that CDV tossed up the first Breed Q/A on their official forum for Breed. "Breed is an upcoming science fiction FPS game" There will be further question and answer sessions posted in the forum soon. Here is a clip from the Q/A:

Will there be the usual game types such as Capture the Flag (CTF), DeathMatch (DM), and Capture & Hold (C&H)?

Breed will not only support all the usual modes of multiplayer gaming (Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, CTF, 'Hired Guns', 'Eliminator', 'Assimilation', Co-operative Mission, Opposing Mission) but will also introduce a number of original variants. We'll be revealing more details on these closer to the launch...
