U.S. retail sales of console video games fell 20 percent in September, but are seen rebounding at year-end -- the traditionally strong holiday season when Microsoft also will launch its new game player, an analyst said on Monday.

Electronic Arts has announced FIFA Street 2 is in development and will be in stores next spring. Featuring all new authentic tricks, FIFA Street 2 provides new gameplay experiences by making over-the-top moves and skills even bigger in this fast-paced sequel.

Midway Games today announced that it has shipped the over-the-top, arcade-style racing thriller, L.A. Rush for the PS2 and Xbox, with the PC version scheduled for December 12th. Backed by a multi-million dollar marketing campaign, L.A. Rush is the first of three titles to ship under the recently announced strategic relationship between MTV and Midway to jointly market video games.

Nintendo cut its first-half operating profit estimate by one third on Friday due to sluggish sales of its GameCube game console and software in the United States, but boosted its net profit estimates due to currency-related gains. They also cited price cuts to its "DS" portable game machine and high development costs for a new game system as factors weighing on its earnings.

An adrenaline-pumping line-up of more than 60 rock, punk, hip-hop and electronic tracks will power players through Activision's expansive Los Angeles skate world in Tony Hawk's American Wasteland.
