THQ and Relic Entertainment today announced a second expansion pack to their award-winning real-time strategy hit Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War. The add-on will include all-new explosive Dawn of War single-player action, new multiplayer content and two new playable races including the technologically devastating Tau, bringing the total number of playable races in Dawn of War to an unprecedented seven.

EA and Crytek today announced they will bring Crysis, an exciting new first person shooter, to gamers worldwide. Developed by Crytek, previously known for Far Cry, Crysis will be an original first person shooter game for PC based on new intellectual property.

Eventhough holidays sales disappoint, VU Games' revenues of EUR 641 million were up 34.9% compared to 2004, driven by its subscription-based MMORPG World of Warcraft as well as the fourth quarter release 50 Cent: Bulletproof, the gritty urban action game starring hip-hop artist 50 Cent. An article on Gamemag.ru, translated by GGMania, seems to indicate that STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl might be in some serious trouble. THQ is said to have cut off financing back in November, a team developing a new graphics engine left shortly after being brought on board, taking with them the source and part of the original develpment team has either been fired or moved onto another project. End of last year THQ ordered an audit of the project and a representative is expected to be on site shortly, and possibly take STALKER to another developer.

Update : GSC's Oleg Yavorskiy says "only 5 people were let go as the new graphics engine nears completion, others went to Heroes of Annihilated Empires. STALKER is almost finished."
