Electronic Arts Lays off 10%, Shuts Down Studios, Moves Black Box

Earlier this month EA's financial situation indicated there would be layoffs, title cancellations, mergers and various other cutbacks, one of them being scrapping the plans for its new 20,000-square-foot facility in Vancouver, Canada. EA has now further detailed the cutbacks, revealing it will consolidate or close at least nine studios and publishing locations, and lay off 10% of its workforce. The Black Box development teams and associated game franchises will move to the nearby EA studio location.

'Beyond Good & Evil 2' (ALL) Already 1.5 Years into Development

In late 2003, Ubisoft released its action/adventure Beyond Good & Evil to much critical acclaim, but unfortunately, that did not translate into sales numbers, and the franchise was abandoned. While a teaser trailer was released at UbiDays 08, there has yet to be an official announcement. However, Michel Ancel revealed at Video Games Live in Paris that the dev team has been given carte blanche by Ubisoft to make the game they want, and have been developing BG&E2 for 18 months now.
