Sending out invites to a press event, EA confirmed the next Spore addon will be called Spore: Galactic Adventures. Gamers will experience deeper Space stage gameplay when the expansion launches in March 2009. For the first time, players' space faring creatures will be able to beam down from their spaceships to explore new planets and earn rewards for completing challenging missions.

Monster Hunter is an online action game originally released on the PS2 in 2004, offering gamers the challenge of exploring vastly detailed environments confronting mammoth creatures and completing the numerous quests that await them. Capcom is porting the game to the Wii, adding a 16/9 mode and multiplayer.

At CES Microsoft's Robbie Bach revealed that a demo for Ensemble Studios' RTS Halo Wars will be available on Xbox Live Feb. 5, 2009.

The UK's ELSPA revealed its annual sales figures, revealing videogame sales hit an all-time high in 2008, with growth of 23 percent on figures for 2007 the market has now more than doubled over the last five years.
