THQ announced that Volition, Inc.’s Red Faction franchise will make its open-world, next-gen debut with Red Faction: Guerrilla. Set 50 years after the climactic events of the original Red Faction, this third-person open-world action-shooter will return to Mars and once again re-define the limits of destruction-based game-play.

In Top Spin 3, players compete online and offline to rise in the ranks against current top ranked professional players, as well as legendary players Boris Becker, Bjorn Borg and Monica Seles. Adding a unique user-generated component, players can also use new player creator features that include free-form body sculpting, makeup and tattoos.

Prototype tells the story of Alex Mercer - a man haunted by his past, fighting a secret war in New York City. As the action spirals out of control, a conspiracy tied to his origins threatens the future of mankind itself. In order to ship the game on time for its fall 2008 launch, Exec. Prod. Tim Bennison revealed in an interview that Radical decided to scrap co-op multiplayer.

Prey is serious, dark story, based on authentic Cherokee mythology. Themes of sacrifice, love and responsibility are explored and the story dives into emotional territory not yet explored by similar games. The Chronicles of Spellborn is an MMORPG set in the Enclave of the Five Sacrifices. Developed by Dutch studio Spellborn, previously known for Alpha Black Zero, it uses the Unreal 2.5 Engine.

Earlier this week Gearbox announced that it had signed an in-game advertisement agreement with Double Fusion, which made the community quite uneasy. To calm down the fans Gearbox President Randy Pitchford has written a blog to explain their reasoning and point out that so far no specific deals have been made, but that in-game ads done right only adds to the authenticity, increases awareness for the game, can lead to a bigger budget which results in a a better game.
