Earlier today Civ fansite
Apolyton revealed that Civilization III and Civ IV designer Soren Johnson had left Firaxis, and teamed up with EA, which he left in 2000 to join up with aforementioned Sid Meiers studio. EA confirmed the rumor and let us know that Soren has indeed joined the Maxis team, currently developing Will Wright's (r)evolutionary title Spore.

Galactic Civilizations II Gold is the retail version of GalCiv 2 and the Dark Avatar expansion, eliminating of two of the game’s alien races but introducing several new ones. This demo includes all features from the game+ expansion, but restricted to 150 turns, medium-Sized Galaxies Only, hard coded to the mid-range settings on all setup options, no scenarios, no custom maps, and playable up to 4 players per game (i.e. 3 computer-controlled).

After several preliminary financials statements, due to the internal backdating investigation, Take Two has finally released a final 2006 statement. Overall revenue is slightly down, and last year it recorded a loss, compared to a small profit the year prior. Most interesting is the mention of a new installment in Sid Meier's Civilization strategy franchise, scheduled for fiscal 2008, which means no earlier than Nov. 1st, 2007.
