Infogrames, Inc. and FIRAXIS Games today announced the next evolution of the Sid Meier's Civilization III gaming experience with the shipment of Sid Meier's Civilization III: Play The World game expansion pack. This major expansion to the game that won the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences' prestigious Strategy Game of the Year Award includes full multiplayer support, eight additional civilizations, new map features and interface controls, and a new scenario editor that will provide fresh challenges and ways to play for veteran and novice Civilization game players alike.

Infogrames let us know that that Sid Meier’s Civilization III: Play the World has gone gold and will reach stores as early as November 1. Sid Meier's Civilization III: Play The World will include three different Internet and LAN game styles, including turn-based, simultaneous, and for the first time in a Civilization game, a turnless mode. Civilization game fans around the world can now face off in short, fast-paced games like Elimination, Regicide and Capture the Flag or play a more traditional Civilization-style game; in addition the expansion will support "Play by Email" and Hotseat games and will include multiplayer scenario support.

Firaxis just released the new patch for Civilization III, upgrading their turn-based strategy sequel to version 1.29f (a day early b ut who's counting?). There is a literally huge list of fixes, additions and changes so read more for a detailed list and links where to grab it (thanks blues).

Infogrames has just released the new Civilization III patch upgrading their Tunr Based Strategy to v1.21f. The 8.8 MB download has a very large amount of fixes, tweaks and additions. Click "read more" for a detailed update list and links where to grab this 8mb puppy.

Pre-sales have begun for the highly anticipated third installment of the game franchise that has kept game players in front of computers way into the night for over ten years: Sid Meier’s Civilization® III. As the pre-sales mount, it has come as no surprise that the most dedicated aficionados of the game are snapping up the special limited edition version of Civilization III that has been capped at a one-time run of 75,000 units.
