Many people in the gaming community may not know Dave Arneson, who was best known for co-creating Dungeons & Dragons/Advanced D&D with Gary Gygax, who also passed away a little over a year ago. Their work inspired many RPG video games such as Bioware's Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights, Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls series and more. Suffering from health problems, Arneson passed away at the age of 61.

the Bioshock movie, revealed a while back, but apparently he believes so much in the project that the Pirates of the Caribbean director has
turned down Walt Disney Pictures to work on the 4th installment in the series. The film adaptation of 2K's action game will begin production in 2010, and Universal Pictures has tasked John Logan (The Aviator, Star Trek: Nemesis) to write the screenplay, while BioShock creator Ken Levine is consulting.

Midway revealed in its latest 10-K filing that it plans to release its action game This Is Vegas (X360/PS3/PC) in 2009, as well as a third installment in the Game Party franchise (Wii) and another unannounced title for multiple platforms. Also revealed was that Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe has sold 1.9 million copies to date, and that Midway expects the current generation of consoles to last another 3-5 years. Oddly enough for a company in dire financial trouble, Midway plans to extend development time for its titles, hoping that will increase the quality and boost sales.

Konami seems to be branching out into other survival horror franchises beyond its Silent Hill series. It
recently signed Saw, and today it was
revealed that it will publish Atomic Games' Six Days in Fallujah, a third-person survival horror game focusing on Operation Iraqi Freedom, mainly the Second Battle of Fallujah with 100% destructible and degradable environments. Six Days in Fallujah follows a squad of U.S. Marines from 3rd Battalion 1st Marines over the span of six days.
