Swedish developer GRIN has been around for over a decade, founded in 1997, but it was not until 2006's PC edition of Ubisoft's GRAW that it became widely known. Shortly thereafter, it grew rapidly, opening offices in Barcelona and Gothenburg, to deal with a slew of high-profile titles (Bionic Commando, Wanted, Terminator) in development. However, sales on all of them were disappointing, and earlier this year GRIN closed all but its main office in Stockholm, which is now also
rumored to be in trouble, with employees being asked to not come to work. Oddly enough,
earlier today, one of its subsidiaries announced a new title.

Last month,
a survey revealed what sounded like the first details on a new Command & conquer game, but EA declined to comment any further. How it seems the rumor gained more credence as EA UK twittered "EA Los Angeles Announces Development of Command & Conquer 4," although the provided link does not exist (yet?). Whether this is a leak, typo, somebody jumping the gun too early, or somehow a hack is not clear at this point, with several of the key EA personnel attending an event in New York.

Taking its inspiration from its 8-bit namesake released on the Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1988, Bionic Commando features Nathan Spencer (voiced by former lead singer of Faith No More, Mike Patton), a government operative who represents the ultimate fusion of man and machine. After distinguishing himself in a fierce conflict against the Imperials, Spencer is betrayed and falsely imprisoned by the very people he unquestioningly served.
