SEGA today announced an agreement to acquire and publish next-generation game content from Silicon Knights, the Ontario, Canada-based development team responsible for such hits as Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, and Eternal Darkness. SEGA of America today announced the availability of SEGA Classics Collection on the PS2. The SEGA Classics Collection is a value-priced compilation of nine remixed arcade hits. Included in the compilation are OutRun, Space Harrier, Golden Axe, Virtua Racing, Columns, Fantasy Zone, Alien Syndrome, Monaco GP, and Bonanza Bros. All of the games have been given fresh audio tracks and graphical enhancements. SEGA Classics Collection is rated ‘T' for ‘Teen' and is available at retailers nationwide for an MSRP of $19.95.

Spartan Total Warrior announcement, but what was not included was the fact that SEGA simply bought out the UK developer. SEGA Europe today announced that the company has acquired the hugely successful development studio, The Creative Assembly. Founded in 1997, headed up by Tim Ansell and operating from offices in the UK and Australia, The Creative Assembly team has produced a catalogue of hits throughout their history and notably is the team behind the award winning Total War franchise.

SEGA of America today confirmed that SEGA Corp. has agreed to transfer all common stock and related assets of Visual Concepts, the developer of the ESPN 2K5 series of sports games, to Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. Last year it was already revealed that Take wo had the option of buying Visual Concepts after Sega and Take Two went into a codistribution deal for the ESPN titles.

SEGA Europe today announced the development of Super Monkey Ball Deluxe, which will bring SEGA's popular arcade series to PlayStation2 and Xbox consumers for the first time. Sega of America, Inc. and Warner Bros. today announced an agreement to co-publish The Matrix Online, the first massively multiplayer online game based on Warner Bros. Pictures' popular Matrix property. SEGA will manage distribution of The Matrix Online, while Warner Bros. will oversee content development and manage the live game operations. Both companies will supervise ongoing game development and marketing activities for the game. The Matrix Online is expected to launch in Nov 2004.
