Activison today released its quaterly financial statement and although revenues were up 20%, net income was down 30&. As usual the real interesting info came during the conference call afterwards where Activision revealed the console edition of The Movies was cancelled, True Crime and GUN performed below expectations, although a sequel for GUN is likely, unlike True Crime. Tony Hawk returns in 2006 with Tony Hawk: Downhill Jam and also Call of Duty will get another episode. Activision plans to release 4 X360 titles this year, as well as 3 PS3, and one Revolution, launch titles.

Star Trek Online developer Perpetual Entertainment announced that Andrew Probert has joined the Star Trek Online development team as design consultant. As the Senior Illustrator for the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Probert designed new spacecraft ranging from the Ferengi Marauder and the Romulan warbird to the Galaxy-class U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D, including both its main and battle bridges.

According to
GaminSteve's website, an informed source over at Blizzard confirmed him that the company is indeed working on Diablo 3, and has been so for the past four years. Why then has it not been released yet? According to his source, the game just wasn't fun and was being reworked. This apparent failure was what instigated the Blizzard North closure mid 2005, and people were relocated to Blizzard's main office in Irvine so the higher ups could keep a closer eye on the project.

After Bowser gets hold of something called a magical Vibe Wand, he kidnaps Mario and Luigi and heads back to his castle on Vibe Island with an emotional troop of minions in tow. Intent on rescuing the Mario Bros., Peach gives chase, only to find herself affected by the emotional vibes given off by the island. Using these newfound vibes to channel special abilities, she sets off to rescue Mario and Luigi.

The
March issue of PSM reveals that Sony is working on a new firmware update for the PSP which will give user access to Sony Mail. The built-in e-mail program will use the unique ID number assigned to each PSP at manufacture to eliminate a potentially confusing server setup. The program won't require users to access a web site, but will let them choose a unique user name to associate with their PSP's ID. The PSM article also reveals that somewhere down the road Sony plans to release a GPS peripheral as well as a suite of UMD map packs.

In October 2005 Digital Illusions signed an agreement to license the rights to Electronic Arts' studio in the UK to develop the Xbox and PS2 versions of its untitled game with release in 2006/ 2007. Due to falling sales for games to both consoles EA and Digital Illusions have decided to cancel the development of the product for these two platforms.

Cyanide, known for Pro Cycling Manager, Pro Rugby Manager, and Chaos League, has revealed it is working on a sequel to its horse racing game Horse Racing Manager, scheduled for release end 2006. Horse Racing Manager 2 will feature 3 game modes : simple race, punter and stable management, and will include 3 types of race: flat, obstacles and harnessed trot. Back in April 2005 an email from a musician who claimed he had returned from a recording session in Bratislava, with the local Radio Symphony Orchestra, started the Diablo III rumor, and now Blizzard themselves fuel speculations. A new job opening on the Blizzard website states "The team behind Diablo I and II is looking for a talented, motivated, and experienced Art Director to help lead our art team in developing beautiful, cohesive game worlds for an unannounced PC Project" Some requirements are "experience modeling and texturing a diverse visual range of characters and creatures." and "experience animating both human and non-humanoid characters"

EA announced today that it has signed on with Tiger Woods for another 6 more years to use his likeness and name in their golfing game franchise. electronic Arts does not have any exclusivity deal with the PGA Tour but their Tiger Woods PGA Tour titles are widely considered the most popular golfing titles on the market. Resident Evil: Deadly Silence will be a remake of the first RE title, released in 1996, but unlike the original, the DS version will not use pre-rendered graphics, but be in full 3D. One of the modes requires you to wipe the screen to slash your knife, and the dual screen will most likely be used for inventory and map. RE:DS will also support coop and other multiplayer modes.

Tesseraction Games has filed suit for breach of contract and racketeering against publisher Dreamcatcher Interactive. The lawsuit cites unpaid royalties, fraudulent sales reporting and intentional contract violations damaging Tesseractions intellectual property.
